The pats are in the midst of "restructuring" the last 2 years of his deal.

my thinking is it will be a 3 year deal, with a huge signing bonus.

its time.

Report: Rob Gronkowski's contract is being restructured

Gronk and his agent Drew Rosenhaus reportedly met with Bill Belichick last week, presumably to speak on such negotiations.

Last year, Gronk had incentives added to his deal, which could be the case this season as well. He is currently set to receive a base salary of $8 million.

Gronkowski has two years and $17 million remaining on his contract. A five-time Pro Bowler and two-time Super Bowl Champion, Gronkowski played in 14 regular season games last season, catching 69 passes for 1,084 yards and eight touchdowns.

We'll see how this pans out. Gronk has a massive injury history and 3 years has to have the Pats scratching their heads. Gronk is the best TE in the game period so he deserves to be paid but both sides need to factor in his history and what they think his future could be.

Good for Gronk.

Hopefully incentive heavy for health reasons.
There has never been any question, he has always been the best TE in the league, when he can make it on the field.

And if Alex G has the program to keep him on the field, Bill needs to step out of the way.

hes played in 14+ games 3 of the last 4 years now. 2 of those days off were intentional sits. suspension and a day off basically.

And? This does not negate the history.

no, but its a promising trend. new trends can erase old ones.
No they cannot. And I fully suspect when he gets a new contract he will also get a convenient injury. Then Daddy will be whispering in his ear.
