Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports that the Diamondbacks and Zack Greinke have agreed to a six-year contract.

Still no details yet on the finances of the deal, but it's likely to be in the range of the $31 million per season that David Price received from the Red Sox. There had been rumblings that the Dodgers may be willing to go to six-years and $210 million, so it will be very interesting to see just how much the D'Backs were willing to spend. Not only do they lock up a star hurler through his age-37 season, but Greinke's bat should also play very well at the hitter-friendly confines of Chase Field.

6 years, so you're getting ages 32-37. Most agree that he's likely to age well, but still that really worried me. His strikeout numbers are going down as he's been successfully becoming more of a groundball pitcher. Still, though. I was always leery of the age.

I guessed wrong. They have the long term money for this.

So, the Giants wanted to make the move 2-fold. Not only to get Greinke for their struggling staff, but to seriously deal a knock on the Dodgers. Well, the D-Backs just went 3-fold, knocked the Dodgers AND Giants.

why would he go to Arizona? Or is this strictly a money grab move?

A top offense & defense in the NL. Loaded with young talent & young pitching. A low-key environment. A roster filled with very likable guys. The Dbacks were only missing TOR arms for them to compete for a WS. And the Dbacks have long term money to spend.

Seems like the Dodgers just thought much differently about his talents. Only offered $6.2M/yr. :D

Dodgers getting cheap now?
