Got this idea from another thread. As we all know Hockey, Football, Baseball and basketball are team sports.

There have been some great players in all sports that for whatever reason never got to win a championship. It could be that the owners or management never made the right moves to surround these players with the help they needed or what ever. IMO, I just don't feel a player should be judged only on if they won the big one or not.

Lets start a list. Me first :)

Marcel Dionne, Great player never had the supporting cast

Homer pick here, Gilbert Perreault. Started with an expansion team but got close 1975

Barry Sanders, Also never got the support from ownership. One of the best.

O.J. Simpson (the player not the person) never had the supporting cast.

Dan Marino, Considered one of the best got to one SB but no cigar.

Interesting to hear some of the other posters picks.

The baseball players list could get very long.

Yes it could and it's a real shame that these guys never got to celebrate one. I always like Yaz and Ted Williams record speaks for itself.

Chris, I think Ed Belfour won it with the Stars in 99.

Warren Moon (Oilers QB, one of the best ever, never got to the DIVISIONAL champ in the POs), Jim Kelly (first apology to the BUF fans), Dick Butkus (Bears HOF), Pat LaFontaine (...sorry...again), Barry Bonds (the juice did it...wahh wahhh...oh, and the f***in braves), Ken Griffey Jr. (never with the right cast IMO), Patrick Ewing (never in the NBA, mostly a Knick, right?), Ty Cobb (Det. tigers HOF)...uhhhh...Johan Cruyff (Netherlands soccer legend), Zico (Brazilian soccer legend)

Warren Moon won the Grey Cup several times with the Edmonton Eskimos before he ever played in the NFL. So he did win a few Championships along with the Rose Bowl while at the University of Washington. A kid from LA who was never recruited by USC or UCLA. Boy were they wrong.

It's not like Warren had a choice early on. No team in the NFL would give him a chance. The Frank Reich led comeback was catostrophic for the Oilers franchise.

i agree, it certainly wasn't warren's fault for the most part. he never had the right group assembled (as it is for most of these players) and it can be argued that the best parts of his career were 'wasted' elsewhere. IMO, he's STILL underrated, and for the exact reason we're discussing. he's one of the greatest QBs ever, but he's never really included in that elite group with Marino, Kelly, Young, Neimeth, etc.
