You are also forgetting the original Lock Down Corner, Louis Wright.

He does always seem to be forgotten but there is an argument out there that Wright was an even better Corner than say the great Champ Bailey who most likely will be a 1st ballot HOF player. Man those late 1970's defenses were loaded. I think part of the problem is there were so many great players that because they all stood out it really hurt them. I mean somebody would make the argument that Louis Wright was only good because the front-7 was so good or vice versa. Throw in they all did play during the era where only about 3-4 teams were sending players to the HOF. Nobody else seemed to get considered. They got robbed I tell you.

The thing is though, an argument could be made that Wright was the best player on that team above Gradishar. Wright was doing what Bailey was and shutting down a side of a field, thus making it easier to defend plays and allowing more time for the front seven to get to the QB. The thing though also was they were not that great of a rush D (if memory serves me correct). They shut down the run and then were that good in coverage that they made the QB hold the ball too long or throw bad passes into extremely tight coverage. I was awfully young during the Orange Crush years though, 5-8 years old, so my memory of them is not the best.

I was going to add Louis Wright and Billy Thompson as 4 and 5 on the HOF list.

I will have to take your word for it on Louis Wright, as I don't remember him playing. I started following the Broncos in the early 80's, and I didn't know every player at that time. I do, however, have a football card of him from 1978.
