Turns out that GPII is hurt, and will likely miss much of the remainder of the season. The Dubs have until tomorrow evening to decide if they want to nix the 4-team deal between the Dubs, Pistons, Hawks and Blazers, and the Blazers may face league disciplinary actions for not disclosing GPIIs injury issues to the Dubs.

Holy fuck…

I wonder if that means they get Wiseman back

I believe this was a HORRIBLE trade for the dubs to begin with, so I hope it does get nixed, but what a horrible look.

This was discussed yesterday....yes if they cancel the trade every team gets their stuff back (so if affects Atlanta and Detroit too, even though Portland fucked us)

It was an EXCELLENT trade and I think they will go ahead with it because:

1. It saves the owners a ton
2. GPII is now back in the fold for 2 more years even if he's only here for the playoffs this year (which is where they need him)
3. They are done with Wiseman, what are they going to do bring him back to sit on the bench all year? They had no use for him, they turned a useless guy into a useful player and saved a ton of money. Great trade.

Wiseman just wasn't a fit and they didn't have the time or luxury to wait. He might be good somewhere in a few years, I hope he is. But this trade was great for the Warriors. Remember how the dynasty started? They traded Monte Ellis for an injured Andrew Bogut (and Lacob famously got booed by the fans at a game when he spoke about it).

That said, Portland's front office was shady as fuck and the league needs to sanction them. Even if not fuck trading with them ever again. That franchise is crashing, all the players want out except Dame LOL.

I was happy that Payton was returning. He was productive which Wiseman, at least so far, does not seem to be

Payton still is returning, it would be a shock if the Ws cancel the trade. And he should be ready for the playoffs, maybe not the first round.

Warriors approve the trade. In the end, I think all they wanted was for Portland to get penalized for less than full disclosure.

Also they wanted GPII for the playoffs and next 2 years. Wiseman just wasn't a fit, they wanted to move on.

He could still turn into a good player but didn't fit the timeline.

And certainly didn’t fit for what he was going to cost them compared to what they were getting out or him.

Kerr today said GP will have a month of rehab and then will have to get in game shape so likely not much run in the regular season but reasonable to expect back for the playoffs

or perhaps more accurately, to get back the $131M in luxury tax penalties expected.

If this type of money wasnt tied into this trade, they would have rejected the trade after the discovery. Zero doubt.

Payton of course is a nice add in. But isn't essential for the rest of this season especially with the injury.

Them allowing this to go through was:

They will probably get one or 2 of the picks back, I suspect. They did target GPII to help them get into the playoffs this season, afterall.
