I dunno, Three, if we go 12-4, it would take a raging idiot to label us a pretender, Ray Ratto, comes to mind.

I was thinking about how Dukes on NFL Network said something along the lines that the 49ers at 4-1 weren't legit because of how they were coming out of the NFC West. Obviously he said that without realizing that the 49ers had only played one NFC West game, so I guess he falls under raging idiot.

Yeah, I did hear that as well, and I agree, it was a backhanded compliment. I honestly cannot blame anyone for having doubts, but at some point the pundits have to give credit when credit is due - I hope.

I think so too. I don't want to get ahead of myself cause this is uncharted territory for the entire team and staff, and pretty much entire organization minus a few. But I see no reason we shouldn't get the #2 seed. New Orleans doesn't scare me either. They are a good team, but Brees has been throwing a lot of picks...going back to last year even. They aren't nearly as scary as I thought they would be coming into this season.

If we do get to the playoffs, I'd really like to see the Saints. You gotta beat the best (and 2nd best), and even though our loss was meaningless, I'd like to show we could recover. No Doubt we have it more together now.

i dont wanna see the saints in the playoffs. brees' quick release will nulify our pass rush and their blitzes will expose our weak pass protection. out of any likely playoff team in the nfc i think the we would be the saints best match up.

i'd much rather play whoever comes out of the nfc east

Merril Hoge is not impressed either.

At this point, would rather keep gettin doubters and haters. Don't want the bandwagon to pop a flat.

Agreed. Whatever helps to keep a fire lit under the 49ers. If they keep winning, they are going to have a game where they start believing the hype and think they don't have to prepare. I'd like to delay that event as long as possible.

Hodge is a fucking idiot. That's all I got to say about that.

Figures right after I say the Siants and Brees aren't as good as I thought they would be they go and score 62. Sure its on the Colts, but Manning didn't play defense. Brees goes something like 30-35 for 325 and 5 TDs.

So Maiocco pointed out that there is no way that any of the 3 other teams in our division finish 8-8. We could go 3-7 or 2-8 and win the division. Get your playoff tickets!

One thing for certain, if we do make the playoffs, whether we earn a bye in the first round or not, our first playoff game will be at home.

What's the earliest a team has clinch the division in a season?

Just guessing here, but I would go with either the '72 Dolphins or the '07 Patriots. Exactly how early I dunno, but with zero losses throughout the regular season I would think those two teams clinched the fastest.

Per Wiki,

The Patriots clinched the AFC East before their eleventh game (in Week 12)

Though not a horrible theory, slightly faulty logic. M-dub, since it depends on schedule and what the rest of the division is doing. It would take a bit of research for the true answer. With the way they stacked division games at the end of the year, mathematically there will probably be a chance for awhile this season.

It's an interesting question.

Rams
Rec b4: 0-6
Oct 30 New Orleans 1:00 pm L
Nov 6 @Arizona 4:15 pm L
Nov 13 @Cleveland 1:00 pm L
Nov 20 Seattle 4:05 pm W

If the above happens... i think we win the divison by turkey day.... i did a 2nd part where we would split our last 6 gms to finish 12-4 no one comes close.... we could go 0-6 and still win despite what the other 3 did based on their record before turkey day in the given example....

as long as things stay the same, or close to it? but we're vulnerable to a major injury, or multiple smaller injuries. we have suffered and will continue to suffer injuries (like all teams), its a question of how severe andn to whom?

Merril Hoge is not impressed either.

That's fine with me, Packers weren't on anyone's radar last season as they pretty much fell into the playoffs with the Giants and Bucs losing to let them in.

As to Hoge, the only time he impresses me is when he remembers what he said 5 minutes ago.
