NFL Sunday Ticket set up yesterday. The bengals are out of market for me, so I'll be able to watch them suck week after week, regardless of attendance. Woohoo.

I got 150 off the deal.... Have had the ticket since 2004 and called to complain that I should get a deal.... It took a while, but I finally got 150 off the package. I plan to call back to get some further concessions.

I emailed the office of the president. They weren't wanting to give me anything, but the OOP offered me $120 off.

- $10 off HBO and Cinemax for 6 months ($60.00 value)

It's the first time I've ever called to negotiate (I've had it since 2006) and had to call two different times to get all of that.

I wasn't planning on getting Sunday Ticket this year, but may if I can get a nice deal out of it.

I don't know if it were just me, but the Sunday Ticket online thing always had games blacked out, or for one reason or another they just weren't airing all the game. I hated it the times I wasn't home and couldn't watch the Bengals game through it.

Call and immediately ask for the 'retention department'

These are the people that you are referred to if you legitimately are trying to cancel Directv or any of their services via the phone. I do not envy their job. Here, you can make your case for the reason you want to drop Sunday Ticket. I told them:

Lockout
Team is going to be terrible
financial considerations right now

It depends on who you get to what they are willing to offer. Do not accept their first offer (unless it's too good to pass up). I would then just act like it wasn't good enough (the second time I called they only wanted to give me $60 bucks off for the entire thing) and ask them if they can do anything else. The person would then put me on a hold for some time to "talk to their _________". When they came back on, they offered me the $120 off for the season. I already had negotiated the stuff I got earlier in the summer so this was good enough for me.

Just plan on it taking awhile...I was on/off hold for about an hour both times. It's worth a shot.

This is the second time I've had it (the first was a promotional thing and I got it for free as well) and I didn't have any blackout problems.

I only used it once that year when we were playing in Green Bay. It was raining really hard at my house during the game and the satellite feed was cutting out.

That's the only time I've used it...probably won't much this season either but they threw it in for free during the negotiating process. I also have an iphone now so there is the potential to use it that way if we are away from home on Sundays this Fall.
