That's a ton of cap to make moves in the upcoming years and to sign their young stars but it still all depends on Mayfield and this coaching staff. If he has a great year, the future is bright....if he has minimal improvement or another down year, all for nothing imo.

No doubt all hinges on Baker/coaches

Question:
Isn't EVERY team building for the SuperBowl in theory?

Secondly, have the Browns not learned their lessons from previous predictions?

Serious question....
Can you comfortably defend the Browns?
Serious question.....defend what? I only care about the current regime and what their plan is now and moving forward.

All depends on the QB. I agree with the notion it could be 2021/2022 if he takes a big step forward this year. Seems like a decent roster with a few holes to plug but if they have 2019 Baker it wont matter. Year 3 is a big one for him

"It's gonna be different this time!"
and, in fact, it is......FO and coach are on same page. coaches say what they need. FO goes and gets players to fit.

Will it work this time? we'll see.

Nobody predicted anything but this is the most talent they've had in a long long time. This isn't a case where they just suck like the past 20-25 years. I hope we see them in a playoff game, that's all I want at this point.

thirdly, I doubt the Browns have predictions by fans and media in mind from last year when they make roster moves.

I'm guessing they think a playoff run this year is possible if we have 2018 Baker. And if they get there, who knows? But agree more realistic would be a SB run the following season.

I am sure they do not. However, this begs the question what exactly do they have in mind? That's just it, no one knows INCLUDING THEM

Ok current regime it is....how can you defend their track record?
Not much of a track record of being in charge, but I'll bite.

Many said no players would come here in FA and they signed the top OT and TE on the market and I guess could make the case the top backup QB, as well.

They also played a role in allowing Football Guy Dorsey to walk into arguably the best situation any GM walked into in the history of the sport.

Put together a roster that fits the scheme of the coach. Definitely refreshing here.

Go after 2-3 top FAs at their position coming off coming off rookie deals and don't overpay aging FAs. Also leave flexibility on players no more than 2 years from now.

seemed obvious.
