This would be his second year in the majors and he's only making 9.5 million this year...

I didn't say he was making $18.5 million this year. I said the Rangers are paying $18.5 million per year for him, which is a fact. The posting fee to get him from Japan was massive.

So far its looking like he's giving them excess value and its still loads cheaper than the cost of Greinke, Felix and Verlander's contracts.

So far, yes, and it will probably continue. I've got nothing against him.

$18.5 milion/year is no small investment for the Rangers for the next 5 years, though. No doubt he'll probably end up being worth it.
