A useful idiot.
Marty St. Louis with a cool goal in the SO tonight to secure the win against the 'Hawks. Do you think it's legal?

I say no, I think the play stopped.
Didn't St. Louis criticize Linus Omark's shootout goal earlier this season?
"It's hard to be on the other end when you watch something like that. You battle hard it's tough to take. I don't know if disrespectful is the right word, but it caught us off guard and now we have to answer questions about it. He's a young kid, whatever he did, it worked. Do we need that? I don't know. It's kind of a slap in the face a little bit. Maybe it's a little too much. We battle hard tonight, 17-1 in the third, and to get beat in the shootout and to get beat with something like that it's tough to take. He did it, it worked. Some guys find a way to create these questions and the attention."
St. Louis was then asked if Omark was his teammate how he would handle the situation. Take him aside and have a conversation? "I'd probably have a little conversation. Sometimes less is more."
If you rule that as stopping the play, then what about when someone loads up a wrist shot and technically drags the puck backwards before the shot? That's a good goal.
The puck must be kept in motion towards the opponent’s goal line...
Not a chance is that a goal. Why dont we let them stop and deke the goalie until he passes out while we are at it. Also if we are going for entertainment lets bring in some clowns whats more entertaining than a clown, and like the shootout theyre both big jokes.
Could you imagine if Marty St. Louis did that to Ron Hextall or Billy Smith?!? One of these days, a goalie is gonna snap.
Of course it was a good goal. And of course I'm going to say that.
But seriously. Stamkos did the same thing on his shot. It's true I might feel differently if things has gone the other way. But the puck doesn't pause as far as I can tell. I will admit it doesn't look like it exactly moves completely forward the whole time. But I don't see a pause there. Maybe St. Louis will learn to keep his mouth shut after this. As they say. Don't hate the player. Hate the game. :p
Thats what im doing, I'm not angry at marty for trying it. I find it ridiculous that it is allowed. god these little things crack me up.

Fair enough. It just kind of sucks that a decent game can turn into shit the day after. On something like a rule no one is really sure about and people seemingly bend all the time. Perhaps next time they try to re-write the rules they should do a better job.
