I certainly hope his level of play is worth the salary and cap space we will be paying him.

Those are certainly legitimate concerns. Add to that the new offense that we will run and how PM adapts to that. Still have to think that even as uncertain as the future is with PM as our QB, he gives us our best chance to contend next season.

At the same time, I really hope that the team is committed to both limiting the wear and tear PM faces during the regular season and also to finding out just what we might have in Osweiler under competitive, meaningful game conditions. Not exactly sure how best to accomplish all of that, but it appeals to me a lot! LOL

Well, I'd expect to see a "hybrid" of what Manning likes to do with a little bit of what Kubiak likes as well. We will get to see just how adaptable Kubes is. I just don't want Denver to put all it's chips into Manning's basket only to suffer through a losing season or such if he's injured, or otherwise ineffective. The way Manning ended last season gives me pause. How much of that was due to leg injuries, and how much due to age and him wearing down? That's a LOT of cap space that we can use to keep other key players, and I hope Manning is able to more than offset any potential losses along those lines.

As for Osweiler, I think that's a Manning ego thing. There were times when Oz could have come in this past season, but Manning stayed out there for some reason. We need to put a stop to that, and let Oz come in with comfortable leads. I liked what I saw at the end of the Raiders game, and hope that series is indicative of what we can expect. However, we will only know for sure the more the kid plays in the regular season. Even then, we may not know until he becomes the starter (see Brister).

We'll see if the Broncos are able to convince Manning to participate in this type of structure. I'm not sure that it's completely an ego thing. Keep in mind that Manning is a creature of habit. He is meticulous about his schedule, preparation, practice and keeping a game speed rhythm. No starting QB wants to take time off, as they feel they're letting the team down and it might create some rust. Peyton Manning exemplifies this attitude more than any other QB but backup QB's behind Brees, Brady, Favre, etc also rarely see any live game snaps over the years. I understand why everyone is thinking that this is the best route but I'm convinced that Manning would absolutely hate it.

I don't know why fans have a problem with this. ALL pro athletes have a big ego - ALL pro athletes are arrogant.
We ask them to go out and face the very best. To be the very best, they have to believe they are the best - that they will prevail....
Professional arrogance is necessary! The coach can pull them out. When you have put up a 28 point lead, do you think they want to come out?????

If Manning comes back, the Broncos can be AFC champs in 2015. If they fix their O-line, anything is possible.
