Preseason is just last year's results plus hype. We finished poorly in ACC play last season and have zero hype right now. Not surprising to me in the least.

Part of it is probably also the new coaching staff. Transitions sometimes take time to gel.

Optimistically, though, our defense should be awesome, and Logan Thomas should be better.

Something else that I'd like to see marked off the checklist at VT. I can't believe Antonia Freeman or Andre Davis never had 1000 yds in a season. I remember Ernest Wilford had 280 yds in a single game against Syracuse.

Andre Davis would have if Mike Vick wasn't so lethal with his legs. There were times when Davis would be open for a 15 yard gain, but Vick could run his way to 30. Then again, maybe it was the ground game that forced defenses get burnt deep. I thought Wilford was going to going into the 03 season, but it didn't work out. Marcus Davis honestly exceeded my expectations. It will happen sooner than later, as most of our best receiving numbers are recent.
