Besides, it's pretty easy to throw around phrases like "blow it up", but that's no guarantee of future success either. You're right, the key is drafting and the Flames have been pretty bad in that regard, although getting better as of late. Backlund is hurt, but he looks like a solid NHL player, Roman Horak has stepped in and played well (Tim who?) and the Flames have Sven Bartschi and Max Reinhart ready to step in maybe as soon as next season.

Yeah, there's no doubt there's some bad contracts and players that need to be moved (although I think they are stuck with JayBo until the final year of his contract). Darryl Sutter really set the Flames franchise back with the Phaneuf trade, I don't mind the fact that 210 was traded, it's the garbage that came back.

I'm still not sold on the Oilers, you don't make the playoffs in October. Long road trip coming up, let's see how things look at the end of November.

5 straight years of missing the playoffs (including two straight years of finishing dead last) and still a shaky defense and suspect goaltending (one hot month doesn't convince me). That's quite the plan KLown has put together up the road.

i know there are question marks ... from what Ive seen he's very perimeter right now ... he's a definite question mark and so is Omark (i think omark has a clause to return to sweden if sent down to the AHL) ... I could see him (magnus) included in the "stupidity trade" for Gonchar and then him pulling a Markus Naslund and blooming late lol
