First, we just need that one good chance, and we need to bury it. In other words, someone not named Kennedy, Glass, Adams, or Vitale needs to get that chance.

Then we need to ride the momentum from that goal and that we built in the second to get the tying goal. Then we need the winner.

To summarize: in order to win the game, the Penguins will need to score more goals than the Bruins. Insightful, I know.

Well, I should be a coach. My strategy worked. :thumb:

@RealJackEdwards: Great game by PIT, taking what the schedule gave them. 3AM arrival didn't help Bs

Jack, buddy. I know back to backs stink, but up til now the Bruins have had the easiest schedule in the league. Played the fewest games by quite a bit. Come on man. I love listening to him, but man he's quite the homer. Not to Steiggy levels, but man.

They are 1 and 1a, Bruins broadcasts are brutal to listen to if you are anyone that isn't a Bruins fan.

The man you guys are making fun of Claude Julien was interviewed after the game and dismissed anything related to the back to back and lack of rest and I quote "every team is doing this and we have to as well"

The Bruins have played the fewest game by ONE. Rags, Canes and Caps all have played 25. Pens have played 27. I dont see this huge schedule differential.

As far as the broadcasts. Edwards goes insane and has openly admitted he is a Bruins homer. Brick is probably the best analyst in the game.

In any case you could see the Bruins ran out of gas. Hell they killed off that 5-3 in the 3rd and held the fort for a long time against probably the best offense in the game for most of the game.

In any case Grats to the Pens fans. It was a good comeback win.

he's barely better than edwards.. barely.. as mentioned earlier in the thread, if it weren't for the pens guys the bruins team would be the worst in the league

It doesn't get any worse than the Paul "He went down harder than Hobey Baker" Steigerwald.

/My Vcash streak continues. I'm now confident that I control the outcome of games now.

I didn't say that Julien was blaming it on back to backs, that was an Edwards tweet. I'm making fun of Julien because he looked like a small child behind the bench making that face. And they're starting to catch up now, but before those back to backs they were pretty behind (mostly because of the snow-out). I'm just saying Edwards should think before he tweets. Being a homer is one thing, but when you're an analyst you have to show some sense of neutrality. Which is why I hate Steiggy. He's just...ew. No fan likes him. I really don't know how he has a job. The fans don't like him, he approaches the players like a fan, he makes bad jokes. He's essentially putting the most biased fan out there to broadcast. Asinine. He openly cheers for guys.

That game was simply amazing to watch... I can't stop thinking about it today. The Bruins went into shutdown mode midway through the 1st period and it almost worked... Was that planned? The intensity that the Pens kept up for the rest of the game was unlike anything that I've seen out of them. Relentless & unfazed by a hot goaltender. They knew they just needed 1 goal to go. I said to a buddy midway through the 3rd that I would be OK with losing this game because thats the way the puck goes sometimes... I certainly didn't think that 10 minutes later the Pens would win outright.

All that said, that is THE way to play the Pens... We are stubborn with the stretch pass and are prone to turnovers. The Devils have done it for years and pretty much any team that tries to trap us has success. Is this the type of game we needed to get the confidence to beat the trap? IDK... It took a long f'n time to finally do it. The Bruins strategy went from genius to skeptical in mere minutes.

I'm really looking forward to this weekend's game...

Agreed, but Bylsma seems married to the 'get to our game' motto.

He's cheaper than one Mike Lange. FSN and ROOT can go to hell.

Have you noticed when the pregame video is shown on the jumbotron that all the audio highlights are Mike Lange's/Phil Bourque's? He's not just a fan favorite, he's a Foster Hewitt award-winning broadcaster.

lange's catch phrases irritate me, but aside from that he's high quality.

:laugh3: Yeah, I can see how they can piss off any visiting fans. He has made those into Pittsburgh legend though. When we think of the Penguins greatest moments, it's usually to the sound of his voice.

ya, i'm sure 'scratch my back with a hacksaw' and 'slap me silly sidney' are a little more tolerable when you're celebrating a goal, not lamenting one :suds:

i cant remember any of the others, it's been a long time since i've heard him.. time flies!

Just look up this player from the '80s and '90s 'Mario Lemieux' on Youtube. "Michael, Michael, motorcycle!" WTF?

haha ya, it's like he just blurted out whatever popped in to his head in the first few years of doing it, then he just repeated all the ones he came up with haha

I remember hearing an interview with him when he mentioned that some of those were just blurted out and some he started writing down.

I remember an interview also, regarding the motorcycle phrase, that he got it from someone he knew from Texas (I think). I believe he said most if not all of his phrases he got from other people, or people sent them in to him. Then he would pick and choose the ones he liked and kept them in rotation.
