Sounds like Gillis didn't really know how to handle finding out that one of his employees was a sick fuck. Also looks like this reporter really has an axe to grind.

/How 'bout them Bolts?....

I still don't get the anger over that. If a GM wants to fuck himself in the ass 8 years down the road with a geezer who can't skate pulling a $6M cap hit, let him.

Unless the player retires when their salary shrinks and the previous cash disappears

I hate those long-term deals for this reason. I don't care about cap circumvention. I just think they're really poor choices.

Well then I understand the hate for that, I just don't understand how people feel the need to outlaw them. It seems a lot of people want them to make a rule against them because they are "cap circumvention". They're not. They are robbing Peter to pay Paul, they are making a team very flexible capwise for about five years, and then making that team potentially very screwed for five years. It's not "cheating the cap".

I should rephrase my original post. I do understand the anger against those deals.

The good news: Cory Sarich is in the last year of his 5 year contract.

The bad news: Matt Stajan still had three more years left on his contract.

/Thanks Darryl Sutter
