Gillis would have won in a landslide if he jumped over the railing last night

Obviously, there won't be any trophy nominations out of Pittsburgh's lineup this season. But, Ray Shero and Dan Bylsma... I thought would be slam dunks for awards... guess not

Conn Smythe......:rapture::laugh:

If that were to happen, the coach of the year award should just be renamed to the Dan Bylsma award :D

Edit: and at this point, Aaron Asham would be in the lead on the team for the Conn

Ken Holland says Hi.

No doubt he's got a legit gripe. But, considering a quarter of the payroll played only half a season for Pittsburgh, and they still finished 4th in the conference and 4th overall in the League, I thought Ray would get serious consideration, guess not...

I think this is the reason why Byslma will win the Jack Adams, but I don't think Shero gets a lot of the credit, especially when it remains to be seen if the trades he made were good for the team (longer term especially). I think the credit goes more to Bylsma for getting a ton out of guys like Tyler Kennedy and quickly incorporating AHL call-ups.

No nomination for Shero?!

What a crock

Id give more to your team for coach of the year. I think what gillis did was pretty fucking amazing. but I wish GM of the year actually included playoffs. as that is what I really judge what they did in the regular season moves for.

if that was the case Holland would have 10 of those trophies

At the time of the Martin and Michalek signings, there was quite a bit of speculation that he had over-spent on them, and had overvalued them, as well. Shero's signing of Martin and Michalek look like brilliant moves, today.

Also, the rebuild that has gone on in the Penguins minor-league system has rewarded Shero and the organization with AHL Wilkes-Barre's best regular season, ever, and the best record in the league.

And last but not least, let's not forget who gave Dan Bylsma his job. This guy had zero NHL coaching years under his belt when Shero fired Therrien mid-season and handed the reigns to a 38 year-old, minor league coach.

This season, more than any other in recent history shows just how important well-organized leadership is to a sports franchise. Losing two NHL scoring champions, midseason... and the team still finishes with the forth best regular season record in the league... that's pretty freaking impressive.

Hope poile gets it -"Becomes the first two-time finalist after finishing in the final three for the inaugural award in 2010"

The Mike Fisher trade is really paying off right now and all we really lost was a first round draft pick. Who needs it when we have the type of recruiting we do (Geoffrions my boyy)
