Boyz have some pretty good backups. Romo & McFadden would start for most teams..... #Cowboy Nation is Blessed

Well I see Sanchez is up to his old ways.
If we don't keep Romo next year I hope we find a new back up

Two things..they could say no offer less than a 1st will be considered. Play hardball, the pick will come. Or, they could facilitate him in finding a place to start, he has the team over a barrel on the cap otherwise.

If he stays...you have to give him a chance to start IMO

I wouldn't mind him staying around, solid plan in case things don't turn out exactly the same next season

WATCH: Tony Romo looks great, leads Cowboys to TD in return to the field
The one-time Cowboys starter who is now the backup looks great in regualr-season debut vs. Philly

There won't be a quarterback controversy in Dallas regardless of what happens on Sunday, but the Cowboys can rest easy about their backup situation, because Tony Romo looked great in relief of Dak Prescott on Sunday.

With 13 minutes remaining in the second quarter against the Eagles in a meaningless Week 17 game, Romo stepped on the field for the first time in the regular season since Thanksgiving of 2015.

Romo's first throw was a little off, but he largely didn't look like he'd missed any time, marching the Cowboys 81 yards for his first touchdown pass in 406 days.

His first completion came on the third play of the drive, a 15-yard bullet to Terrance Williams for a first down.

Darren McFadden ripped off a 24-yard run and caught an 11-yard pass from Romo to get the Cowboys in the Eagles territory. A blatant pass interference call on Nolan Carroll, who was mugging Dez Bryant, led to the Cowboys getting in the red zone.

Bryant was irate after the play -- pretty clearly he wanted to get his pal Tony a touchdown. Williams took care of that, though, hauling in a touchdown catch from Romo from 3 yards out.

Look closely and you can see Romo turning and running off the field, knowing he'd thrown a touchdown.

When he did get to the sideline, he was grinning ear to ear, knowing that could very likely have been the last time he threw a pass for the Cowboys.

If Dak hadn't done what he did this year and Dallas had to go with Sanchez, this team may not have won 4 games this season. He loses his team football games

You are so right. He loses games singlehandedly!!! He killed momentum. Instead of going into halftime up 17-3 or at worst 10-3. You throw a stupid int the resulted in a 10-10 tie at half. And can't even get more then a field goal in 3 quarters of play.

Romo definitely looked in midseason form. In his 5 plays, I think I screamed- SNAP THE DAMN BALL at least two of them. LOL.

Hated to see us lose but I think we got out of there with no injuries. It was fun watching Gregory and the young LBs play.

Philly came to play, but their offense just makes my eyes hurt. I'm not knocking Wentz- he doesn't have much for WRs, but all that short stuff is hard to watch. Nice last 2 games for them though.

The one thing I will say is, Romo showed how to get a team out of the blitz on every down by throwing it deep sometimes. Dak has to do that more often. Teams pac it in on dak. Eventually he will consistently burn them.

Romo was awesome. Was great to watch him do his thing and even better to see that old Romo smile on the sideline afterwards. I couldn't help smiling myself seeing how happy he looked. It would have been an incredible moment if at home. I wish they would have given him one more series, but am psyched that they played him and that he played well. I think even if he doesn't get into a game he will be more comfortable and himself on the sideline for the rest of the season and that can only help Dak and the team.
