To fix a damaged index finger. Should be ready to roll in 5-6 weeks which should be before the season.

A golf club shattered in his hands.

Note to humanity, don't root for the teams I root for. They're cursed.

I am not a golfer, but how in the fuck does a golf club shatter in your hands? This is a solid, metal object we're talking about here and this is a millionaire who should be golfing with top notch equipment. Wtf!?! I mean, I watch golf on tv all the time and I keep track of it from time to time. I've never, ever heard of something like this happening...

I am very annoyed because this extends his recovery from this injury potentially well into the preseason and obviously he is our franchise player.

I wouldn't be too upset about this. 5-6 weeks is a pretty good recovery time, and I don't think players like Giroux really need to play a full preseason schedule anyways. Will give the Flyers a chance to try out some prospects which is what preseason should be about anyways IMO. Good thing is that this doesn't seem serious, just a slight setback, a setback that Giroux & the Flyers could afford anyways.

I'm more concerned about Sid getting his million dollar smile back. The face of hockey should not have missing teeth IMO.

I hope this is not a sign of things to come this season.

We all beg to differ on this one.

Worst case scenario, Flyers start off slow. I don't think this will be a problem for the team by the end of the season. Good thing for the Flyers they got a lot of depth at the center position.

I strongly suspect there's more to the story. No way he hit a "ball" when it shattered. Probably smacked a tree or the golf cart in anger after a bad shot.

Akeson should get a shot IMO. He was great for the Phantoms last season.
