I do think KC will be an improved team. But I don't see them overtaking the Broncos. They still have a game manager at QB and a non-game manager at head coach. Week 2 will be a good test for sure. If the Chiefs dominate Denver that game, I'll get worried.

I think that KC, like Denver, has a chance to be very good. Given that Denver has won the division four years straight, it's probably more generally interesting to predict a different team wins the division than it is to predict Denver wins its fifth straight AFCW.

Exactly. I think the Chargers will be the primary threat this year.

It's a fair pick. He is likely assuming the Chiefs offense will be improved over last year's pedestrian unit. It's no different than us assuming our O-line holding together, or the defense being as aggressive as we expect it to be. I really do think it's a fair pick, given he's making assumptions that amount to a best guess.

Also: I won't be worried even if the Broncos don't win that week 2 tilt in KC. Getting the Chiefs in their home opener on a short week is a tough out. I'm just glad we get the dreaded TNF game out of the way early.

It is one of those everybody is optimistic about their team before the season starts (unless your Jacksonville and seeing some of your top players falling to injuries left and right). Heck since Manning has been here everybody seems to want to pick everybody but the Broncos. Now last year most did pick the Broncos with Manning coming off his ridiculous season but beyond that I remember his first year where we were supposed to have this ridiculously difficult schedule and people predicting Manning wouldn't make it through the preseason so everybody was picking the Chiefs. Then when we started 2-3 that season man everybody was predicting that this was it for Manning. Next thing you know we roll off something like 11 straight wins to close out the season. At the bottom of that article they talked about how the Broncos could start 0-2 while the Chiefs could be 2-0 if things play out like Chiefs fans hope and even then I don't think I would panic as I know that this team is a team in transition. We are not working to play our best football in September. We are working to be playing our best football when December/January roll around. This is a very different picture than what we have been over the last couple of years where we come out of the gates on fire to then cool off as the season comes to an end.

I'm not going to worry too much about the outcome at Arrowhead. Thursday night, short week , KC home opener, we get the TNS out of the way early. With the way they handle preseason nowadays, the first 2-3 regular games are really the real preseaon for most teams. You can't win it in Sept so don't want to go 0-4, 1-3 in Sept either.

I remember KC destroying the deflator in week 4 last year.

One thing to keep in mind, esp early in the season is the Eric Berry factor - I am one to never underestimate the power of inspiration and emotion on the field ..

This will be a tough game - KC home opener with Berry on the field ... There's going to be a lot of emotion in that stadium that night
