Just watched Craig Morton complete a pass to Dan Reeves in Super Bowl 5....ha!

Dallas would go on to lose 13-16, Morton would go on to lead the Broncos to the Super Bowl in '77 (against the Cowboys), and then Reeves would come in and lead Denver to three more Super Bowls as a coach. The football gods must not have liked either of those two.....ha!

I am watching NFL network as well. Getting tired of the talking heads on TV already.

I watchecd recordings of AFC playbook and NFC Playbook after the games were played ot see if any of their analysis was right and everyone except Brian Billick was way off base with their predictions.

Especially Sterling Sharpe. That guy has no clue.

Yeah, I went through this in the week leading to the AFCCG against the Pats. All the same old story lines trotted out and bantered about like the tired old retreads they are. It has been much the same this past week. The sad thing is we still have a week to go. Longest. Week. Ever.

:gaah:

Here's to hoping for a friendly Super Bowl ghost. Fifteen years is clearly too long between appearances, but it sure would be sweet to extend the streak to three consecutive wins in the big game. Doing so would tie us with NE, Oakland and Washington for 6th place on the list of team wins in the SB.

But a loss puts the Broncos at 5 for the Super Bowl, a league record.

The risk of that is certainly preferable to not having the opportunity to win another title.

Absolutely. I'd rather be "at risk" of having the most Super Bowl losses in the NFL than play it safe.

Great thread!

I was thinking of how we've been through such ups and downs as Bronco fans, especially regarding the Super Bowl. I became a fan in the early 80's, so I suffered through the three Super Bowl blowouts in four years. There's no other way to put it - those losses left an emotional scar.

Then, in the twilight of his career, John led us to two straight Super Bowl victories. It was nothing less than sweet redemption and sublime exultation for us fans. We ALL finally got the monkey off our backs.

Now we're in the Super Bowl again. We've been through the extreme highs, and we've been through the extreme lows. We, as fans, have been here before and I think we're more prepared than most for any possible outcome; furthermore, I think we have a more objective way of viewing the possible outcomes. We're experienced, so to speak.

This Super Bowl "experience" may seem to only help us fans out in getting ready for the game, but the guy who was right in the middle of those five Super Bowls is now running the show for the Broncos organization. I imagine that he has made a point of letting some of that Super Bowl experience rub off on the team, and Peyton in particular. And I'm sure that that will do nothing but help out in the team's preparation for Super Bowl XLVIII.

Watching the Giants SB again, and I STILL can't help but wonder how different that game would have been if we'd gotten those TD's when we were deep in Giant territory in the 2nd quarter. 24-9 lead instead of 10-9 would have been much stronger and probably changed the outcome of the game.

Watching Denver v. GB now. Here's a question: Would Davis have come back in if the NFL had concussion protocols back then? That would have been a BIG loss if not. We probably lose that game if he wasn't allowed back in the game. At the very least, he doesn't get back in for that Elway TD run as a decoy.

On the flipside, imagine if we had scored after that kick return fumble instead of throwing the INT.

Ive been saying all year injuries are only an excuse and the Broncos have been proving me right so Im still sticking with Denver winning the SuperBowl. Losing is not an option.
