That really sucks. Promising young player like that has a nasty setback. He'll be back.

This really blows, I know all to well about ACL's, I'm on my third in my left knee(along with no miniscus from years of trauma and abuse to the joint) as I speak and I have a slight meniscus tear in my right and leaning towards a total knee but my Doc's won't do it because I am to young but I cannot function like a normal person. I hope he comes back stronger & ready to go next pre-season! I cringe every time I see someone go down with a knee injury as it brings back alot of bad memories.

Wish him a fast recovery but it's not like the guy was already destined to the HOF.....

He's still a high end prospect that plays a position that the Flyers are depleted at. Also a setback to his development as a player.

I heard that Hextall hasn't ruled him out for the season. Maybe it wasn't a full blown tear?

Apparently Morin has a fractured jaw?

"Gostisbehere and Sam Morin (fractured jaw) are the Flyers' top two defensive prospects and both are injured."

Flyers prospect Shayne Gostisbehere tears ACL | Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia

yeppers.. he should be getting ready to come back though if they were right on the '4 weeks' prognosis.

from the prospect thread:

Don't know the context but apparently Morin left his game in an ambulance

Sounds like a puck to the face. Could be a lot worse

yup no worries.. kinda got buried in there. he was at a flyers game shortly after and he seemed to be in pretty good spirits so that was a good sign.

Since it is a knee injury, the only good I can find is that Ghost can work on upper body strength. If nothing else he needs to develop some more upper body. I thought he had some trouble taking a guy off the puck.

As far as rehab, remember he is a professional athlete. When I was recovering from shoulder surgery, there was a Phillies minor league pitcher going to where I had therapy. He had very similar surgery. I watch him progress so much faster than me. I spoke to my therapist about it and she explained that it was his job to rehab and recover. I was there 3 times per week after work. The therapist and trainers were working on him as a full time job. Hopefully Ghost doesn't miss a beat.

apparently it was just a partial tear.. after surgery last week, Hextall said the estimated time on the shelf is 3-3.5 months. That's not as bad as expected. I was thinking 6 months at best.
