Wow! That's interesting. I know you're supposed to kick the tires but why would they with Smith is they weren't actually interested?

excerpt~

Geno Smith told Rich Eisen of the NFL Network that the Bengals have interviewed him.

Take a breath, Bengals fans. There's nothing to worry about.

One of the great dilemmas of the NFL Draft is whether to take the best player available or to draft based on team needs. Many player personnel professionals agree that with one of the first picks in the draft, it's usually better to take the best player regardless of team strengths and weaknesses.

It's the luxury of being a highly regarded player at the NFL combine: Lots of teams want to meet with you. Including the Bengals.

Geno Smith is arguably the first overall pick. Watch how his eight-touchdown, zero-interception performance against Baylor earned Geno a spot in the discussion of first overall pick.

Andy Dalton has led the Bengals to the playoffs in back-to-back seasons for the first time in 30 years. Although his consistency waned the latter part of the 2012 season, his job isn't in jeopardy. They are, however, looking at bringing in another quarterback to back up Dalton through free agency. Geno won't be a free agent.

The Bengals' first pick comes at 21. Geno won't be around. I'd venture to say that it's more likely that the Bengals will take Fresno State RB Robbie Rouse with their first pick than it is that Geno Smith will be around at 21.

All in all, this meeting shouldn't scare Andy Dalton fans. While the addition of Geno Smith to the burgeoning Bengals offense would drive opposing AFC North defensive coordinators insane, it simply won't happen.
