Glennon's going to be the most expensive backup QB in the League, maybe the most expensive 3rd stringer.

I don't get the criticism of Cutler to be honest. Chicago doesn't have a great history of QB's and Cutler is probably the 2nd best they've ever had. Was he great? No, but they made it to the NFC title game with him on the roster. His main issue is his personality and his injuries the last few years. But, they went out and over-paid for Glennon, added Sanchez and drafted Trubisky. Seems like their FO is lost.

I actually think he would have had a very nice career, had his legs not been mangled in his first few years here.

People forget that he was VERY mobile coming out of Florida. 5'11 with great mobility AND a rocket arm = Drew Brees... 5'11 and a statue = Rex Grossman.

I was also at that ATL game. That was an exciting moment. As a side note, I thought I had frost-bite that night. So f'ing cold...

Yup. His knees failed him. I rooted for Rex. Big arm, fiery kid. '06 was a fun year.

It was goddamn cold that night. 7 below at kickoff if I remember correctly? Vick couldn't wait to get off the field. Beers were slushies. Bottled waters were frozen solid.

Fuck him. He has a permanent black cloud over his head. Glennon's deal is ostensibly a one-year deal at 13 mil. No one will know the wiser next year. It literally has no negative effect on the franchise, even if he sucks major bawls. Maybe they overpaid a hair, but for what was assumed to be a starting position, his salary is at the very bottom of starting QBs. Means zilch in the grand scheme of things.

It's an embarrassment if he ends up the backup, or God forbid.....the emergency QB.

They could have drafted Trubisky and brought in Sanchez and spent that 13 million elsewhere....Shaw could be the emergency QB. I'm sure they had other needs (they did finish 3-13 last season) they could have spent 13 million on. Saying it has no bearing next season is incredibly short sighted.

Static evaluations of potential outcomes are stupid.

You saying they could've drafted Trubisky, is static, in that the sentiment states that all picks in a future draft are fixed.

It's dumb, and 2-dimensional

Facts??? Only a idiot would call a dream a fact and even if true (180)that would make him one of the smallest in the league. But sure he'll make a nice work hoarse because we all know Howard is not any good. lolol. No chance Howard makes the team anyway so why argue.

First, Cohen weighs 181, that's the fact I was talking about when you said he weighs 120. Stop pivoting.
Second, "we all know Howard is not any good"..no, only i know he's not that good. Again, a year from now you will forget we even argued about this and claim you never liked Howard--fact.

Cutler for another year was the smart move. Draft Trubisky and have him sit behind Cutler for a year.

Exactly.

Speaking of Grossman. Yeah that QB everybody including Noon loved and I hated from the very beginning. Again, genius was right again--another fact.

Again... it's a one-year option deal, where he'll be the 3rd lowest paid QB not on their rookie deal. 22nd overall in QB salary. Do you think McCown or Hoyer are overpaid too? Because that's about where he stands as far as salary goes.

He's a bridge QB, nothing more and nothing less. You don't draft a QB like Trub, whose biggest knock is experience and not have a vet there to help bridge the gap.

It's an extremely straightforward plan, used by just about every franchise bridging a gap for a young QB.

The Bears are rebuilding, and rebuilding teams are in the business of keeping cap space free. Not getting tied up in high priced FA's.

Glennon's contract has literally zero effect on the state of this team's cap going forward. He can be off the books by next off-season. If we wanted to sign somebody else, we had/have plenty of cap space to do so AFTER the Glennon deal. We didn't want to...

I like Cutler, but I understand them wanting to tear the band-aid off. As it was inevitable. Not to mention, keeping Cutler also clearly takes up 10+ mil as well. So... what's the problem? The organization didn't want Trubisky to be developing under the cloud of Cutler looming. It's understandable.

It's an embarrassment if he ends up the backup

No, it's really, really not. lol. That actually would be the exact plan coming to fruition. His job was to hold things down until Trub is ready.

If anything, Glennon would be one of the league's best backups. Which he was in TB. It's a completely inconsequential deal. There is no risk, and it hurts nothing. There is no angle where it was a bad move. If you want to say they should have kept Cutler instead... fine. However, to attempt and argue it from a cap/money standpoint is just silly.

they are trying everything to show Trubisky is not ready. The latest is saying he played against vanilla defenses. Yet, the experts all comment on his mobility and accuracy on the move. I guess they are expecting a deer in the headlights and just fall down when some exotic blitzes are shown. They contradict their own arguments.

Cutler threw too many game killing INT's.

Wait until the regular season begins before you shower Trubisky with praise.

Can't wait for the ice caps to melt completely, and those fuckers have to make a swim for it.

Would they help us if we were going extinct? F no... screw em.
