Rather than continue with the STL thread ... thought we could use a general LCS and WS thread.

What prompted me to start this one is that with TEX crashing before it ever got to the playoffs ... NYY is crashing now. While OAK/BAL put TEX out of its misery in ultimately one game ... we are now watching NYY slowly bleeding and dying before our eyes.

What is ironic is that when DET wins the ALCS ... it is not going to have HFA in the WS because Verlander threw batting practice in the first inning of the ASG.

Will be interesting to see how that works out. Sure torqued me off when it happened.

One other thought to research ... with SFG facing STL in the NLCS ... when was the last time the reigning and once removed reigning World Champions faced each other in their LCS?

It's nice to see Verlander night be the one screwed by that stunt. Maybe he'll re-think that if put in a similar position again.

Baseball is still being played?

Have to admit I've only watched parts of 2 games since TEX was ousted before the playoffs started. I did see the play Jeter was hurt on and saw DET come back and win it after NYY tied it in the 9th. Just not the same though ... hard to just watch games without an emotional stake in them.

Have watched the Playoffs when I have had the Opportunity. But Winding you are correct. Have no routing interest at all now with the Rangers not involved. Can be hard to get into it. But I am still a Big Baseball Fan. I would like to see the Tigers go all the way of the Four Teams that are left. Detroit Last won it all in 1984. Not that I really care for the Tigers either. Without Derek Jeter the Yankees have no shot. He is the Heart and Soul of that Team. Otherwise with all the Strong Egos in the Yankee Clubhouse there would be constant turmoil. Jeter keeps it all together.

I think the Yankees time is over, their players are getting too old and too expensive. They need to make moves to get younger or they will just slowly be knocked down in the ranks....I think Arod does get dealt this offseason, Swisher shouldnt be resigned, maybe explore trades for Hughes and Chamberlin, possibly Granderson too considering he is being benched at the most important time of the year....realistically the only players they should keep and/or extend are Jeter, CC, Cano, Nova, Kuroda, Robertson and Nunez. The rest they should explore trades, release, or let them walk in FA....of course they prob wont do that and will still spend money in FA which is stupid IMO.

The Yankees are stuck with ARod, no one will take much if any of that contract on

Due $28mil in 2013 ... NYY has same issue TEX has with MY ... except on steroids.

How ironic ... steroids ... well maybe same except on HGH would be more accurate.

except the Rangers only have to deal with a 1-year $16M contract while the Yankees are stuck with A-Roid for 5 more years and around $114M

according to the story, Miami for some reason sends Heath Bell and his contract to the Yankees and the Yankees send A-Roid + a lot of cash to Miami

Listened to a WFan Station out of New York on My IPhone. The Talk Show Hosts said tha t the Yankees know they are Stuck with A Rod and for that reason they are doing whatever they can to embarass him. The Yankees feel He can't play anymore and are hoping if they Make his Life Miserable He will want out of New York. They did the same thing to Posada last year.

no matter what the Yankees do they're still responsible for 5 years $114M to A-Roid. i think the Rangers are content with only being responsible for 1 more year of MY and they think he can still contribute as a DH and PH for that year

i didn't say anything about him being stellar all i said was that the Rangers are satisfied that he can contribute at DH and PH and if they can reload their offense to replace Hamilton and Kinsler comes out of his 2012 funk then that's all they need from the DH position.

Content? I don't think they are content at all. Better not be. Don't think they are satisfied either.

Will be interesting seeing Young in the Brandon Snyder role. Wonder if he will go down to the bullpen to help warm up RPs in the late innings?

poor choose of word. the Rangers are stuck with his 16M salary for 2013 and are going to use him in much reduced role from what he was used for in 2012. that's why i think they look to bring 1 or 2 utility infielders to handle the 4 positions (1B, 2B, SS & 3B) like Keppinger and/or DeRosa so that no one is tempted to use MY in that role. and someone like Keppinger and/or DeRosa also gives you the option to use them in the DH role which reduces MY's use there too. Does he go away or end up like Snyder and Gonzalez did last season? NO but he remains part of the team for 2013 and then he retires or moves on, allowing the Rangers to do the same, move on.

I'd rather see the tigers win the WS. If they don't their owner has said money is no object and he'll spend as much as he has to next year to win a WS. That means they'll be driving the price up on any FA the rangers might be interested in next year.
