Some initial observations after 1 period:

- VAN is not nearly as good at puck control as the Wings were.
- VAN's PP is slow and deliberate so far - bodes well for SJ
- SJ's defense even with Huskins in there is playing a smart, flexible, collapsing game. Perfect to counter the speedy Canucks forwards.
- SJ has ridden out the storm so far - great shot at winning this game
- Niemi is ON - he's seeing everything.
