Get used to the shitty homer announcing, cause if they go far in the playoffs that's all we're gonna get. Although... the way they played today that doesn't look all that likely at the moment...

Actually, they have lost 4 out 5 if you include the 2 shootouts. Not good results. As I said in a previous post, they play a very fine line of hockey. 2 or 3 goals, OTs and shootouts. Games can go either way, and now they are going the opposite way. Yes, they stunk it up tonight, but they played well in last their two and still lost. For some reason, this team seems to fire 40+ shots on many nights and seems to end up with 2 goals many times. It is a weird stat, but maybe it is because they don't get dirty goals and just hammer away from long distance with no one in front of the net most times.

They played the Hawks game and lost, they cant get into shootouts and track meets. They need to get back to the stifling D and counter attack they've been using.

They fire alot of shots on net but alot of them arent difficult for a goalie to stop, they need to start putting them in tough places for goalies to make saves. And get to the net, they are on the right track it just takes time.

cant win them all and sometimes you get blown out but they definitely need to pick it up again now, no time to lose points. every single western team is dominating right now and this team better not slow down or they'll be on the bubble pretty quick.

beating dallas, phoenix, or the like isnt a big deal. Few would argue that dallas is the better team. The key is beating the good teams like chicago (since the AS break), LA, or vancouver. The sharks looked good in the 2nd and 3rd vs. the nucks, but they were lucky to be in the game early on at all and were 20 seconds from blowing it. chicago looks like the chicago of last year and that game was exactly like all the others the sharks played against them last year and throughout the PO sweep.

The sharks just arent fast enough to keep up with the better faster teams. Their D is too slow and too weak offensively to help the sharks put up the goals needed to overcome. Vlasic, murray, huskins, and wallin are offensive zeros with the latter 2 as defensive zeros too. Boyle is good offensively but only so-so defensively and is aging fast. White is so so at both ends too and has done next to nothing to jump start and fading PP, and demers, while on the upswing in his career, is still only serviceable at both ends. Braun is a rook with clear offensive potential but is still a liability in his own end.

Take our D and compare to Keith, Seabrook, Campbell, Hjalmarsson, Campoli... or Edler, ehrhoff, hamhuis, bieksa, ballard, Salo... and it's a joke. They are so head and shoulders better. only if the Sharks get an impossible performance from Niemi and/or major major injuries to the nucks and hawks will they be able to compete with those guys in a 7 game series.

I hate to be a naysayer, and maybe all the close games will pay off in the end, but I just dont see this team as better than last year, and that team couldnt even play in the same league as the hawks. With frolik and bickell, the hawks rediscovered their O depth from last year too. At least they have goalie who can steal a game or too...
