As MORONIC as AU looks there, the Ump certainly looks like he soccer player with his flop...

Honestly, it looks to me like he's trying to get out of the way. He's watching the play and suddenly feels AU grab him. I think at that point he's trying to jump out of the way like a good ump should so as to not interfere with the play. But AU, being the lover that he is, refuses to let go of the ump's hips.

AU is a man's man.

AU is 0 for 31 this season. Combined with his 2010 season, he is a combined 9 for 86 (.105) for the last two seasons.

Is there any better example of the absolute inane insanity that is TitoMac, who thought AU was the best player on the Giants for several years. Give AU a chance! EZ all good!

I suppose this is taunting the baseball gods, as if they didn't already have enough against us for stealing the 2010 WS from the more deserving Philth. So watch, AU will start and go 4 for 4 tonight.

We still win, though. Duck the Fodgers.

Just read that the Snakes are on pace to score the same number of runs as 2010, but their pitching staff (especially the bull pen) is on pace to give up 140 less runs than 2010. That is almost a whole run per game!

Giants Pitching

2010- 583 runs

2011- on pace to give up 572 runs

Giants Hitting

2010- scored 697 runs

2011- on pace to score 547 runs

That's a scoring differential of .925 runs per game!!

So, the 2011 Giants have pitched better than in 2010, and have less to show for it.

Man has Boch just given up on Torres or what? (not that I haven't he just cannot layoff the inside in-the-dirt breaking ball).

I guess they're just trying to catch lightning in the proverbial bottle, I'm just not seeing much in Christian.

Also did anyone catch Boch's comments about Cabrera?

"Cabrera, sure, he's made some errors," Bochy said. "But you've got an experienced guy out there. I know he's dropped a couple of popups. I think he's as shocked as anybody he didn't catch the ball, and he made some nice plays today coming in."

Really? So you admit he's been sucking in the field... and... what about the part where he's hitting like .217? I guess Crawford doesn't offer anything better with the bat right now, but his D is very good - so wouldn't he be the better option?

He's a gamer all right. 3 for his last 28.

Once Craw has the game experience, he will get the chance to play. But not until.

From Baggs:

Left-hander Jeremy Affeldt will miss the remainder of the season after he cut his right hand in a backyard barbecue incident Thursday, Giants manager Bruce Bochy said. Affeldt was trying to separate frozen hamburger patties when he sustained a deep gash in his right (non-throwing) palm. He underwent surgery to address nerve damage.

I just created a thread on this topic.

What a dumb shit. You would think that people who make MILLIONS of dollars a year using their hands in a small window of time in their lives would be more careful around knives (or doing wheelies on motorcycles).

Well, there is one opening in the pen for next year. No way the Giants have him back now...

Finally, some encouraging news: Ryan Vogelsong was named the Willie Mac Award winner, and he recounted the story in which he turned down the Dodgers while playing in the Venezuelan League this winter. Vogelsong got the offer from LA but told his catcher, former Giant Guillermo Rodriguez, to pass it along and get the Giants to match it.

"I said, 'Tell the Giants, because I don't want to wear Dodger blue,'" Vogelsong said. "I didn't make that up. I couldn't see myself as a Dodger."

Extra reason to love the kid :)

Chances he is on the team next year?

Over/Under starts at 100%.
