Does anyone know the nitty-gritty of PitchFX? Can we assume it to be 100% accurate? Are the high and low determined by the player, or does it assume a constant?
We treat it as accurate on these boards. I am just curious as to the ACTUAL accuracy of it.

The zone is adjusted for each hitter. It does vary minutely even for the same hitter in different AB. These compilation plots adjust the actual position of the pitch - so that each hitters unique zone can appear on the same plot and in the same place. As for accuracy, it's the system MLB uses to evaluate umps, so I imagine they are fairly accurate, but, of course, not without error. The data comes straight from MLB.
