Is it because our expectations were so low? .270, steals some bases, puts up some decent at-bats, no home run power. Not really too much to get excited about.

Yes. Although I must say, I like the way he plays the game. Seems to keep everyone's head in the game.

Additionally, new right fielder Schierholtz ran down three fly balls, including two that seemed to be destined for the Nationals Park sod. His sliding catch on a ball hit by Harper in the bottom of the eighth kept the tying run out of scoring position with no outs.

“I take pride in my defense, too,” said Schierholtz, whose solo homer in the fifth inning to put the Phillies ahead to stay. “Whatever I can do to help our pitchers out, I’ll do it.”
