It's good to Panik as Bum and the boys win 4-1 @ D-Backs
The kid is cool and Bumgarner is a star and they both helped the Giants win a big ballgame today in Arizona . No need to Panic as the kid Joe Panik steps into the line up and goes 2-4 including a sweet double against a tough lefty late to get his first RBI of his MLB career. It was a game of firsts for Panik who got his first hit (single) and his first extra base hit (double).
Bumgarner was so dominant the Giants broadcast crew spent the whole day in the pool out in the outfield enjoying the day. Some Giants fans brought some of those big cardboard heads of the crew and it was pretty funny seeing them in the pool all day. The D-Backs were not so lucky as they drowned at the plate against Bumgarner who was on top of all his pitches and threw 8 scoreless innings on only 2 infield hits. His 7 SO were something to watch today. Bum now has a 2.63 ERA and is 9-4 for the year.
Crawford hitting 5th today went 2-3 with a walk. He added another triple to his year and now has seven. Pence had 2 hits and a run scored. Posey and Colvin each had a big RBI. Romo came in in the 9th to close it out and get his 22nd save. Giants win the series 2 games to 1 and stay 4 games up in the West.
It was a great day for both Bumgarner and Panik who are going to be around this game for a long time. The kid impressed me after the game and seems real humble and glad to be in the bigs. He said he is looking forward to getting on that happy flight home to San Francisco and playing in front of the best fans in baseball. Welcome to the Giants young man and enjoy the flight back home.
P.S. Stay away from that guy Affeldt.... he is a accident waiting to happen.
