If Smith keeps playing like this all season I don't think there is any doubt that we look to sign him long term. He seems to really be responding well to Harbaugh but I don't want to speak too soon.

I have to say, watching this game, I am really ecstatic for Alex Smith, I don't know what type of career he will wind up with, I don't know what type of season he will ultimately have, but to see him in there making good reads and accurate throws and being a leader is really very cool after everything he has been through.

Lost him closer to the first down marker, but 10-15 yards later, it was all VD mauling them over to the endzone...
