Good series. Starting pitching was outstanding (0 ER), hitting was OK (given that Kershaw pitched a game), bullpen was good (if Kershaw doesn't hit the homer, wheels likely don't fall off).

Good series. Starting pitching was outstanding (0 ER), hitting was OK (given that Kershaw pitched a game), bullpen was good (if Kershaw doesn't hit the homer, wheels likely don't fall off).

Just watched on TiVo and scanned the thread. My thoughts:

1. Oxy/Scoots 0-8...ungood.
2. 4 FPOM; 3 GIDP...sigh....
3. Mijares -- maddening
4. FatBoy can HIT
5. Twitch is going to have a good year, but the D?? Shaky.
6. Timmah not sharp, but he battled his control and the D.
7. 17/33 batters saw at least 4 pitches...getting better.
8. Bullpen (non-Mijares division): 4 IP, 2 H, 0 BB, 3 K, SV.
9. Shout out to the Greek assassin...game ball.

I dunno. If we're gonna start assigning letter grades to pitching performances I would think As and Bs should be reserved for QSs. How many 3-2 counts did he get himself into?

He was battling horrible D behind him (and in front of him, I guess) and he never completely blew up. Even with the bad D, he only gave up 2 runs, neither of which were earned.

No love for Gaudin? He was terrific...I know it's only one game but whichever poster was hating on him in another thread should feel a little better now.

Tim was shaky but ok. If that's what we get from him this year that's ok I guess.

Bottom line: a very nice opening series vs the rival, reminding everyone that while the Dodgers spent a ton of $ we are the champs.

I was a bit worried earlier in this thread that defending a small lead fell on Gaudin's shoulders.

He pitched very well. I think the KNBR morning guys were saying he was the MVP of last night's win.

Still would have preferred Casilla in there in the 8th.

Even though they have a bazillion dollar payroll, the Dodgers are pretty much the same team that we beat last year. The Red Sox really ripped off the Dodgers.
