His catching skills leave some room for improvement, but he has a bat and he is certainly athletic. I don’t really see a star, but I think he can be a useful asset.

I like Villar at 1st. Davis seems to have locked down 3B, Estrada has 2B covered and Schmidt is coming for SS. Unless they want to try Villar in the OF (I am not opposed to that), it seems like 1B/Util is where his future lies.

Villar is an asset for the moment. As the team sits right now, he needs to play somewhere. And he costs nothing.

I prefer mopey if it comes with a better bat and glove. Not saying I want Belt back but I'd prefer his replacement to be at least close to his production

Just looked up Belt, not surprisingly he's been terrible so far in Toronto in 53 ABs

1st, as a reminder, I took the ultra anti-Belt stance because we were getting a lot of sound chamber talk here, so I took the role to advance debate.

2nd, my legit main “gripe” about Belt was the cost per “production”, factoring in the opportunities cost of locking down a 1B (1B was the NL equivalent of the DH at the time). Putting someone like Villar at 1B falls directly into that opportunity cost bucket.
