Agreed. McLellan will probably throw Niemi back in there next game but IMO he should be riding Griess while he's playing as well as he is.

Nice - and that ended as it should have with Clowe burying the puck and Griess blocking out the trash.

I really liked seeing Clowe take control of this game - that was awesome.

I wonder if Todd will stick with Couture/Jumbo/Pavs and Clowe/Marleau/Havlat. I like splitting up Marleau and Jumbo. Great way to give the opposing coach a tough decision on which line to assign his top pairing on.

Yeah, plus Couture looked really really horrible out there.. worse than Mitchell and I'm not sure how that's even fucking possible but he managed.

Got back too late from the game last night to post, but are the thoughts:

First the bad:
1. pavelski = super suckage. I dont remember a game that bad for him in a looooong time. He gifted the first goal (along with nemo), was fumbling over himself all night. He couldn't take or make a pass and just obviously didnt have 'it' last night.

2. Jumbo looked like he was playing with the tusk they gave him (best gift ever by the way!). He wasnt awful, but wasnt great either. Bad turnover led to the 2nd goal.

3. Nemo was terribad on the 1st (hard to blame on the 2nd). that's 2 really soft games in a row for him. No need for concern so early, but I don't like it...

Now the good:

1. A goal from the bottom two lines??!!! Amazing what just a tiny bit of depth can do. Without mcginn's goal, they lose 3-2 and it's a very different story.

2. Marleau: what a game! he was flat out awesome out there. He was working hard on and off the puck, flying all over the place, and really looked inspired. Man, when he really wants to, he is a beast. If he tried his best and used his speed every game, he could be a perennial 40+ goal scorer easily even without Thornton.

3. Havlat = Joe thornton on line 2. Obviously, that's not exactly analagous since havlat's is a speed game, but the man sure can pass. Love to him pot a few, but he really ignites a line. Here's to him staying healthy!

4. Clowey: what can you say. Character and heart personified.

5. Griess. he is why the sharks won. period.

6. The zebras for letting 'em play.

The ugly:

1. Burns' facial hair.
2. Tmacs coaching: gotta have them ready = horrible at the start. But, mixing the lines and clawing back by making major adjustments = brilliant....


Overall, gut wrenching and frustrating as hell, but a W is a W!
