They weren’t going to snap the ball. They were trying to draw the defense offsides. Clock stops on the penalty

After the penalty when they did kick it is what im talking about.. the play clock was still at 20+seconds.. bad clock management

Almost every kicker in the NFL can make a 52 yard kick. Not saying they make it all the time

Effectively the odds of missing it were greater than the odds of making it. I also think the odds are about on par as converting a 4th and 8. Converting the 4th down might have been easier.

Michigan for one! I saw those suckers kick a 57 yarder the other day. However, to quote a friend of mine during the game: "It's not good to bring FGs to a TD fight!"
