The only story arc last night that didn't fit was Jaime's. It just didn't make sense for him to run back to Cersei to save her based on his story arc.

I see a lot of people complaining about Dany's heel turn as if it was not he most likely outcome. Obviously this was the end that Martin envisioned.

Now it certainly felt rushed and perhaps unearned but I don't think there was any real way to make it feel earned. Doing so would have made it far to obvious what was going to happen and ruin the entire moment.

Meh, the disappointment I alluded to earlier was that Dany going mad split needed more than 2 episodes

I was right on Jaimie Killing euron to get to Cersei. Just not right on him killing Cersei
you could see something in Dany when Tyrion was telling her of the betrayal. It looked like that scene was filmed without make up...she looked ROUGH.

but that's the problem with pushing it all into 6 episodes, not enough time to let it build up. They showed it starting in the previous episode, but they needed her to make more rash decisions...I guess offing Varys kind of was, but that was necessary. Chaining Jaime? She was showing signs, but she needed more beofre completely losing her shit.

Swiss cheese Jamie climbing all over the Keep was bullshit. The way he and Cersei went out...meh. But I will say this....as blah as Cersei’s end was Lena Hedley played it magnificently. I was hit by this as it was happening. That was a very tough role to play in that episode, and she was amazing!

i thought so as well. i thought the character would have something more evil to use in that final battle, but the mountain and the big arrows were it so considering, i thought hedley did a great job with the script she had to work with. and it's kind of fitting for her and jamie to go out together. they were born together.

I don't understand what happened with Varys. He died keeping with his character arc. That is not how this season works at all. He should have stolen tons of money, screwed over the common man, and retired with a cavalcade of world class titties.

Same. I am fine with Dany going Mad. But it needed a longer build up than this.

It's a big leap from crucifying the slave masters, and fighting battles for a throne, to unnecessarily roasting the entire city.

Once the bells rang she had three choices, IMO.

1) War is over. Wait for her army to mop up and take possession of everything.
2) Go and hit the Keep where Cersei surely was. Sure there is some collateral damage, but at this point... I UNDERSTAND doing that.
3) Destroy the whole city, with 0 regard for any life.

I don't see her at number 3 yet. I would absolutely understand her at 2. But 3 was still a long way off for her character.

Yep. I get that she has teetered on the edge of madness throughout but it just made no sense to me here. She basically saw that she had the war won then said fuck it, my father wanted them all burned I guess. Let's do that. Why bother being the queen of anybody when you can just hang out by yourself.

People getting upset because Dany killed all those "innocent" people in King's Landing. Remember, these are the same people that cheered Ned Stark's beheading....so fuck 'em"

Dany's been building to this all season (if not before). No issues at all with her snapping. The only scene I was kind of "meh" on was the Jaimie and Euron fight.

Spoiler

I hated the fact that they made it seem the hound lost both eyes and it was over for him one way or the other.
But then they should it was just one eye. And i thought ..holy shit he is going to make it and walk out with just one eye.

And they both end up going over anyway. Which I always figured they would both go down at the same time.

I just hated that they gave me a second of hope for the hound.

I don't think we ever see Bronn again...

A shame.
Cersei killed by a piece of falling rock and this show killed by two lazy writers.

Why didn't they fire the ballista arrows at the incoming army?

One thing I didn't get from a military standpoint is Erone could have just turned the ships towards the army that was sitting there and fired off those scorpions and wipe them out.

I was fine with everything in this episode except for the scale of Dany's destruction of the city.

It thought it was all logical. I agree with how Cersei and Jamie went out, too.

I wish Dany just went for the Red Keep itself. If D&D wanted to really just destroy all of KL, maybe have it so Cersei set up the Mad King's caches of wildfire to chain reaction destroy the whole city. (And we did see some wildfire, it just wasn't what was responsible for the entire city's destruction.

Then, Dany would still be responsible, but it wouldn't be something wildly out of her characters. She wasn't at 'Roast the whole city, Fuck the Civilians.' yet.

yeah. that was a leap and one i don't understand what drove that much insanity. it is a big FU to jon/aegon targaryen and i guess sets up the battle between the Dany and Sansa.

there are still several obvious ways to go. and a bunch more very crazy ways too.

1) a battle between the north and the south. one winner takes all. don't know how the north kills off a dragon though.

2) a truce born from a union between a stark and a targaryen. the obvious is jon/dany.

3) the night king is dead, but what about the children of the forest? a truce could piss off the CotF who create another night king (aegon or bran maybe?) who returns to the north to awaken when the time is right, another 1000 years or so from now.

there is still much to get done in one episode.

I don't think Dany lives.

i can see that happening and my guess would be that arya takes her out then. maybe killing dany renders the last dragon mute? im not sure how the north is prepared to take on a dragon unless aegon targaryen or bran can take control of that last dragon. both sound unlikely to me considering the love the dragons had for dany.

Yeah, I don't think there will be an epic battle between North/South. I think she'll be killed more execution style

My thoughts are it will be Jon going back to Ned's original lesson
