So i heard a radio segment with this title & thought it would make a good thread for us to share who we thought earned a game ball for an outstanding performance on Sunday ... and who deserved to go run a lap and earned a gasser.

here is a link to the segment i am referring to

http://cbsloc.al/2diNxqA

I am going to give out a game ball to one offense & one defensive player.

On defense my game ball is going to Kerrigan. He got into Wentz head from the first snap and he never got right after that. Can you remember the last time an opposing QB jersey was ripped off their body? lol enough said.

On offense my game ball is going to EVERYONE throwing blocks for the running game ... the O-line, the TE & WR. It didnt matter if you put Jones, Thompson or Kelly in the backfield ... all three of them ran the ball down the throat of the Eagles which coming into the game was a top 10 run defense.

My gasser is going to Ryan Grant ... go run a lap. Please catch the ball when it hits you in your hands. That is all.

What annoys me is people look solely at Jones' numbers. I swear there were a number of times before Kelly stepped on the field that he went down my phantom tackles. For a big guy he still goes down way too easy. I like Kelly stepping in, I think it scares Jones.

Gameball goes to the OL...biggest no-brainer. KC wasn't sniffed and we rushed for 230 yards and KC was hit only twice.

Defensively was obvious as well. RK got 2.5 sacks and hit Wentz 4 more times.

Gassers...STs...they got PHI back into it.

This was assisted by Vernon Davis and his penalty.

Agree. However - that penalty on Davis is a joke. How in the hell is simulating a free throw considered taunting or excessive celebration? The NFL has gone way overboard with some of their rules. Thanks Goodell for ruining the game!

The penalty is a joke, but the rules clearly state you can't use the ball as a prop in celebrations. Davis was using it as a basketball. It is a football. He was in violation and should have known.

See my subsequent post - even Gruden didn't know this rule. I guess that NFL teams now need to spend hours & days reviewing all of these type of rules. I guess that they could also just hand the ball to the refs. After all the NFL wants to ensure that players and fans have as little fun as possible.

I'm not defending the rule, just stating that it is a valid rule and they should have known. I don't care who you are on the team. How hard is it to have someone analyse the new rules and present the changes to all player personnel? What the heck does gruden have all those assistants with various titles for anyway? Make one of them learn and educate everyone else. Its called delegation and taking care of the little details that could make a difference between and win and a loss.

ok lets get it back on track

offense is the o/line trent williams and brandon scherf are playing at all pro level
it is at least a top 10 o/line

on defense i am going with the front 7 , RK led this group but 5 sacks ( for us ) is pretty damn good

And both received another assist from KC's horrid pick 6 that was read from jumpstareet by Malcolm Jenkins. KC need to be out there with the ST and Davis.

Far as game balls. The front seven led by RK in what was his best game as a Redskin and the OL are excellent choices.

Like flagging Norman a couple weeks ago. Flagging Davis was pretty selective. While it has been flagged on occasion. I can't recall Garcon or Djax or Reed or a gang of other players being hit with a ball as a prop penalty after spinning it like a top too recently. Has Gronk ever been flagged for spiking the ball? That seems to fall within the guidelines of using the ball as a prop.

We'll never really know, but I imagine if VD isn't flagged on his TD. The only it changes is making Smallwood's 86 yd KO Ret TD a 101 yd KO Ret TD.

I'm with j_r. We all know the league is horribly inconsistent regarding the enforcement of the rules so why give them a chance to screw it up? Glad someone mentioned Ryan Grant. Considering how many passes he gets his drops are totally unacceptable, this is not new.

As for props I'm going with Duke Ihenacho. I have no dea what it will take to give this guy the starting job. He is a huge upgrade over Bruton.

I was going to mention spinning the ball. But before I posted I actually did some research, I know right first time for everything, and learned the rule says spinning is only illegal if the ball spin is directed at an opposing player.

The same with spiking the ball. The rule is inconsistent and just a bad rule. But not knowing it is not an excuse. It's their job to know the rules. Especially Gruden. Guarantee you that the NFL publishes the rule changes every year and makes sure every team, and player, gets a copy.

Spiking is not using the ball as a prop the way spinning it as a top or shooting it as if it's a basketball.

Have to err on the side of Davis and Redskins. Gruden said the league sent a video showing all the things they were not allowed to do and shooting a basket wasn't one of them. At the same time I always like the Riggins theory "act like you have been here before."
