Gradkowski is not very good, but he made the plays he needed to to help win the game. That Benson run really sealed it. Great call by Gruden.

Gruden ran off Whitworth all game long, all game long. Never even ran right hardly. Then they show handoff to t he left and run right with the FB leading and there goes Benson for the big one. Playing possum all game long. Showing only one thing, and then when they need it, he pulls out the run right that goes for 30+ yards and a TD to win the game.

Gruden had some play calling that doesn't make some fans happy, but it was safe play calling in dangerous territory. Plus, when you have a punter who has been kicking the cover off the ball, don't risk it, get in position to regain some field position and rely on teh defense a little.

Dalton looked comfortable, showed some srength on some throws, good accuracy. He showed some questionable reads, but he is a rookie playing in his first NFL game at the hardest position on the field on the road.

I really liked his poise. No doubt he is going to struggle hard probably against Baltimore and Pittsburgh, but I think considering our schedule he should have a much easier rookie season at QB than what some guys get.

Overall, impressed with the time management, play calling and for the most part execution.

AJ Green was getting raped by Harden. There was at least twice Harden held him, one was quite obvious that may have been a TD. You could see his frustration when he came to teh sideline and slammed his helmet. The refs were really playing loose on Harden.

6'4, great hands, great speed, and his moves are sick. Reminds me of Chad when he kept leading the league in yards. He really made Harden work his butt off today. Hraden had a good game, but he did get away with a few that Green clearly beat him on.

Overall, I thought we played pretty decent considering the amount of new players, short off season, rookies at important positions. We have a lot to improve on, but I can honestly say, I felt more comfortable with Dalton in there than Gradkowski. Hope Dalton is good to go next week against Denver.

@ Denver
San Francisco
Buffalo

THose are our next 3 games. Buffalo looked great today and they always have our number, but it is at Cincinnati and hopefully the offense keeps improving each week along with the defense as they play more and more together.

We could start the season 3-1 maybe.

Game 1: 1 penalty 10 yards, no turnovers (when was the last time we had that clean of a game?)

PS..WOW on Baltimore. What domination. When was the last time the Steelers got dominated like that in a season opener? Matter of fact when was the last time they lost a season opener?

Well, amendment to my original post. 3 penalties for 22 yards. Still a good game in my opinion with no turnovers.

I have a feeling we start off like Denver a few seasons ago. 6-0, 5-1 or the like. But still miss the playoffs losing 6-7 games late in the season.

I was very pleased.... They looked much better than I assumed they would look all season. Cleveland looked like they were playing the part of the 2010 Bengals. No key turnovers - No big penalties. Dare I say it, Marv actually got the most out of his roster. For one week anyway.

yup. well done. I actually thought Dalton looked really good too. Still some issues and major holes but would much rather watch this team than another failed attempt to try to capture 2005 with Carson and Chad. D line looks athletic. Biggest hole I'm seeing on D is the inability to check the opposing TE's and always seems like the secondary has a busted coverage. overall though they played as well as you could expect them to. Good to see A.Smith play through a whole game.

yea, that hold on Green seemed blatant, but Harden had to take his chances with getting caught, he was getting pwned by Green on that run, he really got lucky today, the start of a new rivalry.

of course, now, the frustration, wait until he plays Pitt and Baltimore, he'll probably get pregnant after what those guys do to him.

I thought we had a hell of a chance to not have a week all season where we won and Pittsburgh lost.......go figure....:confused2:
