Is that his "what am I doing here?" face?
Is that his "what am I doing here?" face?
That is the tight-rope that needs to be navigated. That's too bad.
Listening to Affeldt a couple of days ago, I was reminded how easily it is as a fan to take out the human component with the players and focus solely on their production. I had been thinking about how the Giants needed to part ways with Affeldt earlier in the year, not thinking much about what he has done for the time. And its difficult because we want to see the best on the team and being too sentimental can hurt the club but being soul-less is just as bad.

I'd like to see him come back and collect 65 more hits before he retires.Has Ichiro announced his retirement?
I hope he gets to play for the Mariners again before he officially hangs them up.
That is a very generous neighborhood there. The umpire is looking right at the bag, how can you not see that?
I think that umpire meant to put up his middle finger when he looked over at Bochy and signaled out.Stupid umpire pride. "In our opinion, he was out, so if we don't HAVE to look at it, we're not going to because we're right."
That play was not intent of the neighborhood play. They better boo those umps when the call is reversed.Neighborhood play is a judgement call. Sucks, but it can't be reversed.
I understand the point of the neighborhood play, but it is a bastardization of the game.

By the rules, it was handled correctly. So they review first but not second? Lame!
That feels like a summarization of the season for the Giants. It CAN be reversed, but it's up to the umpires to discuss it. And when have you EVER seen umpires reverse a call without replay? So I guess you are right...
