Gags is a salary dump that will help the Bolts win a bunch of games we expected a decent prospect and pick for him since that should be his value not and old moderate d-man.

The Flyers were over the cap. Gagne will make 5.2 million next year. To be honest I think Holmgren was lucky he found another team willing to take Gagne off his hands. It's not easy to trade bad contracts these days.

Bad deal for the Flyers, good deal for the Lightning. It was alright for them to get Walker, since that gives them the ability to deal a D-man for something, but that pick should have been a second- or third-rounder. Fourth is too low.

However, this move does at least give the Flyers some room to operate now, so let's see if and how they take advantage of it.
