I gave you a small razzing in your thread, but this information does add some intrigue to the deal. Of course, any deal involving prospects or picks is usually intriguing.

How good are these prospects, Patrik Stefan or Patrick Kane?

apparently its for neither of those.. TSN is confirming matt walker and a 4th round pick... AWFUL return for gagne.. sad to see him go, especially for that.. i wonder if the flyers are going to move one of their 8 NHL caliber d-men..

I retract my previous statement of Homer having the power in a trade for once.

WHAT THE FUCK do we need 8 D-men for??? I would have rather5 just gotten our 2nd rounder back then this shit.

I'm guessing Carle is going to be traded now, maybe we'll get some kind of decent return for him.

The Flyers were over the cap. Gagne will make 5.2 million next year. To be honest I think Holmgren was lucky he found another team willing to take Gagne off his hands. It's not easy to trade bad contracts these days.

Bad deal for the Flyers, good deal for the Lightning. It was alright for them to get Walker, since that gives them the ability to deal a D-man for something, but that pick should have been a second- or third-rounder. Fourth is too low.

However, this move does at least give the Flyers some room to operate now, so let's see if and how they take advantage of it.

Is TB going to be relevant again? It seems like they have made some nice moves.

Gagne's contract is not particularly bad. His offensive production over the last two seasons alone correlates to about a $4.5 million cap hit, and he's a plus defender and good leader. His value and contract align pretty well, actually.

They're not particularly far away from competing again. And they still have a little bit of room to operate.

That's why so many teams were banging down Holmgren's door to acquire him right?? It doesn't matter whether he's worth the contract. What matters is what teams were willing to trade for him. Obviously, not much.
