Don't be a jabroni.
It's game day, 7pm on FDS. I'm still wiped out from the 3am wake up, hope I can stay awake during this one. Got some pics from Junior I from DC, happy for the kid he's experiencing this. The GF is actually near him in Boston with her kids, they flew out last night at 10pm. The game is nationally on NHLN and she said she will try to catch it from the hotel bar. Should have given her a Kings jersey to take...oops.
Big game, two points and the Kings lock up home ice in the WCQF for the first time since 2016 (vs Sharks and boy was that series ugly). Kuemper expected to start, Doughty back in, Thomas, Lewis and Burroughs expected to sit. That changes the D pairs back to what we're used to seeing with 44/8, 84/21 and 43/92. Edmundson and Jeannot did not accompany the team but are expected to play in G1 of the POs.
The Oilers were missing 8 players last night in the win over the Jets who seemed to just mail it in after winning the President's Trophy and will be missing the same group basically tonight. No McJesus, Draisaitl, Kane, Ekholm (who is apparently out for the first round at leaat), Walman, Stetcher, Nugent-Hopkins and Hyman tonight apparently. Most guys are injured, they're holding McJesus back tonight. So while this game could have been set up for a playoff preview, it won't be. Edmonton is going with 11/6 tonight because they don't have cap space to activate any more players, Hutson (NCAA) will make his NHL debut tonight and Brown recalled from Bakersfield. Kane seems to be on the post cap miraculous road to recovery and will probably play in G1.
One thing that isn't changing is the 5F PP even with Doughty back, PP1 will remain 96/11/9/22/55. Jill states it's working so until it shows otherwise he will stick with it. Can't really argue with him but my guess is the first SH goal scored against the very next shift will be a 4F/1D look again. And for God's sake remove Dunno from PP2. Put ANYONE else on that unit, they don't generate anything at all especially him. I'd take Lewis in his spot at this point that unit is so ineffective.
Tempering the expectations again, this won't be the Edmonton team LA will see next week. That said, I fully expect the Kings to win 4-2. Goals by Fiala, TOTM, Dunno (who I just railed on) and Dexter against his former team. TOTM pulling a TENT. Buster with 12 assists in a 6 score game (he gets primary and secondary on all of them) and the knob gobbling continues.
Let's Go Kings!
