Don't be a jabroni.
Game day again, 4pm start on KCAL. Trying to get the outdoor lights done before the game but I'm under the weather and dragging ass today. Just have to power through it.
No major lineup up changes expected although TOTM may be available after being scratched yesterday due to undisclosed injury reasons. If he draws in I wonder who's out, my guess would be Helenius. The Kings seem to like Lee (he was on late in a 2-1 game yesterday against Anaheim) and we all know scratching Lewis is pretty much off the table so that leaves him as the obvious choice. Personally if he drew in I'd scratch Buster, he's long overdue for riding some pine with his complete regression this season. Some press box time wouldn't hurt at all.
With Portillo playing yesterday Rittich is the expected starter. Jill hit on the effort yesterday pretty much saying Anaheim outplayed LA (they did) and Portillo essentially stealing a game. I hit on the slow starts and inconsistent play in the thread yesterday, in a B2B I hope LA feels fortunate to get 2 points and comes out hot and ready.
The Kings have not won three in a row all season and Ottawa should be a prime target to hit that streak. But just watch, Stuetzle will win the game for them while outplaying Buster. I'll be watching and comparing the two for sure, I bet Buster knows all eyes will doing the same, feels the pressure and folds like a fresh towel.
Kings PP is still trash, nothing is working. At this point I'd put B6 guys out there just to see what they have. The five forward thing is a gimmick, it rarely works in the NHL. PK is middle of the pack (15th?) so stop taking penalties (here's looking at you Fiala and Clarke). The Kings have not shown consistency enough for me to believe they can beat any team at any time. I'm not expecting 8-7 like last time but I'm not expecting LA to dominate either.
Prediction: Senators 5-3. Kings goals by Foegle, Kempe and Fiala. Rittich stands on his head but the team in front of him doesn't. Kings do not get that elusive three in a row because...it's Kings, no identity team. Stuetzle with 2G/1A, Buster using Brasso on his chains on the bench watching Stuetzle dazzle.
Let's Go Kings!
