Game Thread: G1 0-0-0 Kings @ Sabres 10/10/24

And here we go, season officialt underway. The Kings have struggled against Buffalo in Buffalo for forever it seems, they could be dead last in the NHL but in come the Kings and the Sabres look like Cup champs.

Last two games LA has been outscored 13-0. Sabres went 0-2 in both Europe games so they'll want a good start back home for their opener. This will be rough for LA, theu have their first 7 games of the season in the road.

Doughty put on LTIR, Andre Lee officially back on the roster and will make his NHL debut tonight. He's been paired with Turcotte and Lewis on L4 but yesterday Thomas spent a lot of time on that line too. He's a big body, I want to see what he can do at the NHL level but my initial thoughts are he will be a B6 player most likely. Not a bad thing, especially if he uses his size.

Anderson will wear an A in road games, Kempe will wear one at home while Doughty is out. Dunno the standard other A. Kuemper should be making his start today, game time is 4pm on ESPN+.

Prediction: Kings 4-2. Jeannot, Laferriere, Kopitar and Fiala.

PS - happy 19th birthday to Ms Puck I, some of you hags were around when she was born. Hard to believe how quickly the time has flown by, she will be coming in from AZ tomorrow to spend the weekend with Pops.

I hate having to guess where you have to go to watch the game. ESPN, ESPN+, Balleys west, Baleys SoCal, channel 9, Max or somewhere else.

Kings start the season undefeated, hope we can say the same at game 2

Thanks man, crazy to think back 19 years ago. I remember every moment of it and holding her for the first time. Now she drives here from AZ and then promptly asks to drive my GMC.

Kings took their sweet ass time releasing the full schedule, now on Teh Blog they're saying it's on BSW and ESPN+ will have the audio. Frustrating for some I'm sure, I have DTV and ESPN+ through Hulu so I'm fine but for some people this has to be annoying.

Buffalo just has LAs number, hoping for a different outcome tonight. Seems like they usually lose the season opener, hoping they kill two birds with one stone. This run isn't as brutal as Dallas owning the Kings in the late 90s/early 2000s but it's bad.

Sabres must die tonight, here's looking at you Jeannot.

I'm excited more than all summer. Doughty injury might be good because team will actually have to start the season focused on those early points. Buffalo definitely seems to have LA's number, but whatever.

The alternating "A" captains road vs home is about as weird as Vancouver giving the "C" to their goalie Luongo. My opinion.

So far not all that impressive for the Kings. Had to kill a 5v3 5 mins into the game which they did. Got their first PP and ended up taking a penalty for a penalty shot which Keumper saved. PK looks okay PP not so much. It is game one though.

That was quite a strange thing. Just keep a consistent A in Doughty's absence.

And I was joking in the off season thing about cursing at Buster but I just did. He saved a chance though, good save by Kuemper on the PS.
