At the very LEAST, hes going to have SabeySabes as an advisor. Him and Ng and we win the next 5 WS.

Maybe now we can draft some quality players again. Maybe now we can sign someone without them using us solely as leverage to get a better contract with who they really want to play for. Maybe now we can develop players worth something. Maybe now we can get contact hitters instead of getting sluggers who cant hit or walk or run or field but can hit an occasional hr. Maybe now we will stop trying everyone else's scraps looking for that utility infielder that we have 4 of that didn't work the first time

We've been drafting/signing quality players. Bailey, Fitz, Schmitt, Ramos, Matos, Carny, Luciano, McCray, Walker, Beck, Bird, Bivens, Black, Doval, Harry, Jelly, McDonald, Roup, Sabol, Wisely, Villar, Meckler.

That's in addition to guys who HAVEN'T made the show but will soon like Eldridge, Tibbs, Whiz, Jordan, Arias, Crawford, Arteaga, Level, Hipwell.

I mean, what team are YOU following?

Except for Ramos none of them are sure things to be above average. Eldridge is the one possible super star. You can build a good roster from those guys but some will need to show more to be above average and as much a Fan of Ramos as I am his production was a bit flat in the later part of the year. Fitz could be our new Duffy and there are others who will need time in the Bigs to see what the Giants have. Nothing as certain as I would like. A good foundation of players but well above average players are needed to be playoffs and contenders for another Tittle.

nobody is ever a 'sure thing.' That wasn't the point. The point is that we've drafting a LOT of 'quality players' over the last 3-4 years. You can ding FZ for a lot of things, but shitty drafting isn't one of them.

I completely disagree. Having a bunch of guy reach the majors =/= good drafting. All it means is that you have a lot of open spots on your major league roster.

For where we have been drafting in the past decade we should have a bunch of solid all star type players. We do not

In general I agree, but there are a lot of guys who are legit major leaguers who have come up over the last couple years. I don't think FZ gets enough credit for his drafting.

No team drafts a "bunch of all stars"

None.

Your expectations are unreasonable.

I don’t 100% agree with the rating, but BR just published a farm ranking that had the Giants dead last. The Giants have not graduated near enough in the last year or so to warrant that kind of ranking without costing the person responsible for it to lose their job.

The Giants did it. Just not those years. Cain, Lincecum, Posey, Bumgardner, Wilson, Vogelsong, Romo, and Crawford. All drafted by the Giants and all stars. The Cubs were drafting well and did this a while back too and won the World Series. The Red Sox did it in the 2000s to help set up their dynasty. The Braves did it in the 90s. Teams do it all the time when they have a good front office and scouts.

The Giants have added TWO in the last few years. Neither of which were acquired by Farzan.

Hey LHG ... you and the family OK .... heard that the hurricane hit parts of Tennessee pretty hard ...
We are good, thanks for asking. We are on the far western portion of the state and it was relatively mild here. I was also out of town but the wife said it was just a typical storm (from what we've experienced this year).

Hey all, I happened to find these resources to see how the 1st 5 rounds of the draft has gone for the Giants in the past 10 years. It may help see how the team has done recently.

"Not capitalizing on the 107-win season was a definite pivot point for Farhan Zaidi. When you look back at the decisions that came after that season, frankly, the decision to to let [Kevin] Gausman go and to resign Anthony DeSclafani is borderline catastrophic, like it really, really, really hurt the Giants. It hurt them in the clubhouse with their credibility and it hurt them just on the field with the wins and the losses."

Seems weird to pin the huge regression from 2021 to 2022 on two pitchers. That may illustrate a bigger point but that alone does not seem to be why the team played some much worse the next year. I think we all knew that 2021 was smoke and mirrors. There was no way that the Giants could have reinforced that same team and gotten the same results. But Gausman in the rotation instead of DeSclafani would have made things better.
