Source: Sixers' Fultz likely done for summer

Philadelphia 76ers rookie Markelle Fultz is not expected to play for the rest of the summer league because of an ankle sprain suffered on Saturday in Las Vegas, a source told ESPN's Marc J. Spears.

Fultz was helped off the court after rolling his left ankle in a game against the Golden State Warriors. A source told ESPN Saturday that he suffered a high ankle sprain, but another source told Spears on Sunday that Fultz was well enough to walk around and the injury is not as serious as initially thought.

This is exactly why Ben Simmons isn't playing. It's kind of incredible the injury luck the 76ers have endured with their first rounders.

Meh. Sounded worse at first than it appears to be. Minor ankle sprain. But no reason to risk him in any way so you shelve him for the rest of the summer league. The Lakers did the same thing with Ingram after he suffered a similar injury.

At this point you've got to seriously question the sixers' strength and endurance trainer.

I know Embiid and Noel were already injured before being drafted by them but this is just sad!

but it's not all on the trainers... Players need to take responsibility as well. I mean they can get very lazy and not work out and as a result get hurt, regardless of what the trainers tell them to do or not to do.

Nah, man. I know a guy who works for the Philly training staff... said they botched up the treatment. It might have started out as a minor ankle thing, but this is how Fultz's foot looked after the team doctor got done with him:

Good, I'm glad that he is not seriously hurt.

All Coangelo has to do is thank Hinkie for the perfect situation he created and concede that Hinkie, not himself, made this all possible. And all this can stop. Embiid was already hurt, that doesn't count. Fultz and Simmons got hurt because Coangelo is ungrateful.

I don't think a trainer has anything to do with this particular injury. He stepped on the guys foot and twisted him ankle. There's no training that takes care of that.

lol Did you see Magic's reaction when Ingram went down. He jumped up out of his seat and started signaling the coaches to get him out and not put him back in.

The players were talking about winning the summer league. The FO and coaches are like..."Fuck that, just don't get hurt."

Yup. I wouldn't be surprised to see Fox and or Ball sit out the rest of the summer league despite both getting pretty minor injuries. There is no upside to take ANY risk.

Which is exactly how you want to see it. You want your rookies to be pumped and trying to show case themselves. Right up until the risk of injury rears its head, then it's back to playing Xbox.

exactly... But people are very quick to blame trainers when players get hurt.. It's basically never the trainers actual fault

Flexibility is definitely related to training. Not saying different training could have avoided injury in this case, but there's a chance.

That's a pretty short window for the Sixers' trainer to get Fultz flexible. He's been signed for what, a week?
