Broncos games are serious business to me. They are not social events, or pleasant background noise to go with polite conversation. When the Broncos are on, they are the MAIN EFFORT. (Morph will understand that term.) Unfortunately, I have some friends who simply don't understand this.

Usually I am a "sit on the couch with some Bar-B-Q" kind of guy during games, standing up for some of the more intense moments. During the playoffs, the tension really ratchets up. I hardly sat down at all for the game against the Chargers. I can sometimes be really unpleasant to be around during games. For me, Broncos games are not social events. Not even close. I can only watch games with fans like me, or alone with just my wife. Casual fans don't get it. I do not tolerate people who chatter away during the broadcast.

I am in the process of politely dodging several invitations/suggestions with friends to watch the game together. One couple is a Wyoming couple and they are passive Broncos fans. The other couple are locals (we are in Virginia) but the husband is a pretty big Broncos fan and the wife follows his lead. While he seems to be a pretty legit fan and she has one of the most irresistible personalities you'd ever meet, she is also a motor mouth! I can't be watching the Broncos, especially in the AFCCG, with passive fans or a motor mouth. Politely dodging these social suggestions and invitations without alienating friends is tricky business.

You all probably think I am a horrible person. Or maybe you get it. Maybe you are all as bad as I am.

Keep on keepin on, ikf. I know exactly how you feel. The Broncos are a passion, end of story. Incidentally, I will be headed to "Chiefs" on Sunday, so I can be around other Orange-bleeding Bronco fans. I believe you know the spot in Solana Beach? It was great there last Sunday, and should be even better this Sunday.

Go Broncos!!

I know it quite well from my days out there. I imagine watching the Broncos from an old Mile High Stadium seat at a Broncos bar/grill named "Chiefs" in Chargers country must be a lot of fun!

I am watching game at home. Brother in law is a huge fan so he is coming over. Wife invited friend from work who is coming for fist half, then going elsewhere for 2nd half. (who does that? :wtf2:) That way, if she is a distraction at least she is gone by halftime.

I will not be pleasant company if the game goes awry.

Last Patriots game, the cats hid in the closet and the wife thought I was going to have a stroke.

My girlfriend and I were taking about inviting people over Sunday this morning. I told her I don't like to catch people up on the rules and plays of the game for folks that have a passing interest. (Football is a big deal in St. Louis.) I also get to be poor company if things do not go well. Lots of curses and flying hats happen. I would love to watch the game with some die hard fans but I think I will have to go to Denver for that.

I'd have to lock myself in a sound proof room to be able to watch a game all the way through without interruption. of course, one shouldn't get to attached to the idea that the Bengals will do anything meaningful, so if I have to leave the game and check on it later, it's not the end of the world.

Haha.....I am guilty as charged on each and every one of those posts. Classic. Terrible company, flying hats, cursing......check, check, check.....lol

I, too am dodging viewing invitations from friends. The Fiance and I are going to see The Eagles in concert Saturday night at the old Fabulous Forum. (Bucket list concert for me.) When we bought the tickets in October, I looked at the schedule and said to her "That could turn out to be an amazing weekend." And here we are.....

We are staying in LA for the night and heading back to OC in the morning. I'm using the tight window as the excuse to avoid the crowds.

Too funny how similar the stories are....

Go Broncos!

You all probably think I am a horrible person.

Yes, I do think that you're a horrible person IKF. JK. I swear that my wife is fine with me renewing my season tix every year because of my gameday antics when the Broncos are away. In fact I should use that line and see what happens. Honey, I don't think I'm renewing my tix this season. Oh Honey, YES YOU WILL! Maybe I can finagle something else out of it. Get my cake and eat it too. LOL

But on a more serious note, a very good friend of mine has an epic SB party every season. The problem is that she's a huge 9'ers fan as she grew up in that area. If the 9'ers make it to the big game (I know the Broncos will) I wouldn't touch that party with a 10' pole. My family is from the greater NY area and I may have an outside chance to go to the game, not only that but my bro-in-laws company is looking to buy 3-5 spots from a company that has a box. Go Broncos and go Butch. Instead of cut that meat; my mantra will be, Butch, get that seat.....

Lol.....Like Any Given Sunday when Cap Rooney tells his wife he wants to retire.

"You are a season ticket holder for the Denver Broncos! I will not listen to this nonsense!"

I honestly couldn't have given a better description of myself. This is almost exactly the way I am......to the point where the only people who'll really watch the games with me anymore are my sisters, and that's because they're both pretty nuts too.

Come playoff time, forget about it. I was out of control last weekend; especially when the Chuggers started making it interesting towards the end :faint2:

Every time I see that Bud Light commercial with the crazy Patriots fan I keep thinking "is that why I don't get invited over any more for games?" Which honestly is not a problem for me. We had a big Chiefs Broncos party for the first game earlier this year in our community and it took everything I had to just sit politely. I had to end up running laps around the city after the game to let out all of my energy.
