I agree and heaven forbid if someone gets plastered and kills someone on the way home from the game you wonder if there would be any liability issues involved. I know you can get beer at any game but offering it for free is going to increase the number of drunks leaving the game big time.
I sure as hell wouldn't have done it if I owned the team.
Those things never happen when they charge for beer
Responsible people will enjoy and still be safe. Irresponsible people don't care what the price is and won't be safe.
So now that the game is over, how many DWI deaths can you report to us from the arena? Surely there must be a buttload. Right?
The more you charge the less you sell. Limit the sales and it limits potential for more drunks. If you don't believe me then why has almost every stadium in the NFL jacked up their prices, cut off sales after halftime or the third quarter and the number of DWI arrest after games is down dramatically after every game.
At Ralph Wilson stadium there used to be 20-30 arrest in and around the stadium for public intoxication and DWI. Now the numbers are much lower every game. All people are not the same, some will take advantage of it and some not. I'm just saying the numbers are there.
Remember nickle beer night at the Cleveland Indians game I think back inthe 80's. There literally was a riot.
Of course it was Cleveland

I did not think any event could give away alcohol. In any case if I was there I would down a few free beers.
Now that you brought it up my cousin told me a couple of years ago that he likes going to the casinos in the states because they give away free drinks. I asked him if they did in Ontario and if I remember correctly he said they were not allowed to give away free booze. He may have been referring to the casinos run by the Province I dunno.
Help us out here my Canadian friends !!
According to to the article, it was only one free beer per ticket holder.
