@LavoieRenaud
Coyotes cut Guillaume Latendresse. He had a good camp but Coyotes have other options.

heck of a prospect not too long ago. That's a steep fall

He gave it a go in Ottawa last year. Seemed like a great teammate but his conditioning wasn't there. He also played like a guy who was afraid to get another concussion.

It's too bad because the guy has great hockey smarts, an NHL++ frame and some pretty decent hands. He should be a fixture in a team's top six by now, not looking for work.

No doubt, sometimes all a guy needs is a change of scenery to re-capture some of the magic.

/I was just worried Feaster was going to go crazy and sign him to a 3 year, $12 million dollar contract.

Dan Rosen ‏@drosennhl now Devils announce that they've signed Damien Brunner to a multi-year contract.

Damien Brunner is, if I'm not mistaken, the first UFA to sign a multi-year contract in 80 days (Cleary doesn't count).

Word is 2 years $5 million total. Great fucking deal if true.

Lou isn't having a problem spending the money that Kovy was getting. The question is will all the vets gel together. By the way Marty didn't look to good against the Isles. Heck Josh Bailey scored 2 shorty's.

Marty generally doesn't do to great in the preseason, and there were some weird plays in that first period. A lot of breakdowns, a breakaway from a guy coming out of the box etc. His statline doesn't tell the whole story.

I do like that we're getting all these vets on short term deals. If they suck oh well, most will be gone in a year or 2 when it's time to lock up our young D corps and Schneider. Lou is setting us up nicely for the future.

Sorry, but the Clowe signing was nuts. I understand why Elias got what he did. I don't mind the Jagr signing one bit. Brunner is a hit or miss guy. Very inconsistant, but he's only been in North America for 1 year. The Devils will play their system. I actually think their a darkhorse playoff team if they can gel soon enough. Fortunately it's an 82 game season. Conte hasn't drafted well lately, especailly when it comes to selecting forwards. The D should be fine long term. No 1st round pick this year won't help their future one bit either. However, if they're out of it come trade deadline time which I doubt happens they can always acquire one from another team.

Did we overpay for Clowe? Yes. But like Lou said, he wanted Clowe and the quicker he signed him the quicker he could move onto other signings (Ryder), so giving him a bit more was a way to guarantee he got the guy he wanted and could move along. Personally I think Clowe will be better than Clarkson and he will make less than Clarkson so if you look at it that way it's not terrible.
