I believe we would only be on the hook for his base salary, which is around $6.5 mil. Still high, but not crazy by any means. Especially if he plays well. Also, he is in the last year of his deal, so it could easily be restructured with an extension. He's only 30, so adding a few years wouldn't be a bad move.

Going by Over The Cap we have Veldheer for $6.5 MIL of unguaranteed money in 2018 and if we cut Watson after June 1st he'd only hit us for $1.33 MIL of dead money saving $5.84 MIL of cap space. So swapping them out costs around $2 MIL. If he's a good starting RT then he's worth it.

Veldheer was decent for the Raiders a couple years ago and a coveted free agent when the Cards signed him. I guess I am not sure what he has done lately.
