Stance: Goofy
That is a something a lot of people argue "I just want to keep my money". I get that.I'm not really trying to demonize anyone, I know a lot of people in the US would blame the government and tax code. Many people work very hard to encourage people to feel that way.
Its just to me, if you make over 400,000 you're probably rich and can probably take the 2.6% hit without passing it down the line. Not that anyone wants to pay more taxes or bring less home - but I think they'll be OK.
What no one seems to argue is holding the government more accountable for how they spend said money. You definitely never hear about how if Corporations paid their fair share, everyone else would ultimately pay less.
With Open enrollment going on right now, I look at what I pay for my shitty health insurance (where a cubicle flunkie has the power to over-rule my doctor) and realize that even if I have to pay the same into a "tax" and can stay covered AND help others get coverage too then it's worth it. If I pay a slightly smaller amount than what I pay to an insurance company that's even better.
